who cares what she looks like, she's an artist not a
manufactured pop singer.

Personally i like the way she looks tho and her first album
is good but since then she has made much better

definately her best.

the same

i'll probably have to stop listening to her music...she's
way to mainstream these days...

i really like "Rid of me" that has some great tracks, "50 ft
Queenie", "Yuri G", "Dry"..... and I think, like Max off of
Hart to Hart might say, that she's gorgeous. I like to think
that, if she met me, she'd really really fancy me.

I think she has gorgeous bone structure, and is stunning
when properly dressed and photographed, but she needs a
little less armpit hair.

- What the hell???
You want to meet some real women and stop wanking over the
soulless robots featured in Maxim.

she was good, although the 2 songs they played next to the
obligatory single weren't the best on there.

I'm seeing her live in 11 days! :D

how did you manage to get tickets? I so envy you!

what tracks are your favourites on the new album?

she's playing a large concert and at a smaller (innercity)
festival.

I didn't want to go to the concert, because the place is
just crap. my brother works in a recordstore, so he got us
free tickets for the festival.

my favourites on the new album are "the pocket knife" and
"the slow drug" especially.

I'm looking forward to this... I think I will get it
tomorrow.

I heard 'Who the fuck' on John Peel, very nice, and a nice
return to the old punky polly.

Okay I have it and it is cool. You know what sucks though?
She played an awesome track on John Peel, the chorus went
"don't marry uh huh herrr". You'd have thought that song
would be on the album Uh Huh Her. But it isn't and its
confused me :s

I've seen her unintentionally live (big day out). Not
impressed. I've never really given patience to her music,
but it's always irritated the shit out of me; the voice is
/so/ whiny.

Maybe I'm just listening to the wrong songs.

yeah, she was good on jools holland (the same can't be said
for the out-of-tune Ash).

Definately gonna get the new album, but i think its pretty
sad when people compare her old style, to her newer style,
as she writes (and produces!) some great songs.

I've only seen her live once on a festival. But it was a
terrible concert. Totally uninspired. All the songs somehow
missed "the magic". She even looked bored! Maybe she was
just having a bad day, I dunno...

I bought the new album a couple of days ago and I like it
alot. imo there was nothing wrong with the stories-album
though ;-) "shame" is a fantastic song! I can't get enough
of that one. My opinion will probably change, but right now
it's my favourite from the new album.

I have solved the mystery. I went on the John Peel chatroom
last night and asked the producer... aparently she played it
exclusively for the session and hasn't been released. It is
called 'Uh Huh Her' though, confusingly :s I hope she puts
it on a B-side

the word fuck in every line :p

More realistically, perhaps Shame? Or Pocket Knife?

So what makes her so special? That's a serious question, not

there's always about 3 singles from each album.

I hope it's not "who the fuck" - that song is pretty boring,
I think.

"shame" sounds pretty probable. although "it's you" could
also do pretty well, I think.

she goes from very sparse, very intense rock ("rid of me")
to more full, electronic work ("is this desire") and
everything in between and around it.

what makes her special is her songwriting and voice, which
are both quite unique and almost instantly recognizable.

"is this desire" is usually regarded as her best album,
especially for people into electronica.

thats her first album, yeah, its pretty good, its more raw
rock orientated though (isn't a bad thing). Most of her
albums are good, just avoid "Stories From the City..." for
now though.

"dry" is a pretty good place to start. the sound of a very
young Polly Jean. :)

"rid of me" can be too harsh for some people to hear at
first, although when it finally gets a hold of you, it'll be
hard to get rid of. ha ha ha.
