Never noticed it before.
However, I find this matter quite amusing for some reason...

He could be the nicest bloke on earth but he's kind of naive for thinking:
1) They'd never get in any kind of copyright trouble 2) That v/vm test will only break even if all copies of that album sell out.
They had it coming, sooner or later...

ive got alot of respect for him he set that label up on just his student loan and i admire labels with balls. especially sticking thier financial neck on the line for an artist

Adding to this, I cannot imagine v/vm running at sich high profits that they can afford to break even if sales = 100% of production (for that album at least)

That was only for that particular album I believe and were legal reasons for doing it that way...
I'm pretty sure they make a profit on things like the caretaker releases.

Despite my amusement over this matter, I'd find it a shame if v/vm test would have to cease to exist because of this. They actually had a few things worth listening to. Not that much though. But then there's also the label's statement..

at first, i thought this was a joke, like, "send us back the records you bought from us and we'll sell them again ha ha". if it's true, that really sucks. i like v/vm and what they're about a lot, and i'd hate to see them in trouble. :(

It is true, sadly.
Uzim: it's fairly common knowledge/obvious if you follow the label at all which release it's refering to ;)

Hahaha. I knew something'd happen in the end. It's a shame, because they really are a fantastic label. The sort of label that gives me confidence in the music industry... everything seems like fun to them, there's never anything remotely corporate.
I really hope this doesn't go too far.

Yeah with a lot of "indie" labels you get the idea that behind closed doors they have think tanks and focus groups, etc. you know v/vm are the real deal.
To a degree I suppose it's a case of becoming a victim of their own success, if they'd put out the offending record 5/6 years ago I reckon it would have passed under the radar.
