Chris Morris's JAAAAAMM

I just watched this again for the first time in a year.

Morris is an absolute genius, how he can create humour mixed
with absoulte tragedy is incredible.

SOundtrack fits the sketches perfectly.

Totally different from The Day Today, but Brass Eye
definetely showed his darker side, then of course Jam.

I watched it stoned last night and it was hilarious at times
and deeply disturbing,

The show in my opinion is way ahead of its time.

I cant wait to see him back on telly at the end of the year

His blend of fantasmagoric surrealist humour with "reality"
is fantastic

the same time.

oh mark thomas. he went down the wrong road - less comedy
and more political awareness. shame really, he was a really
funny guy.

Fuck that's good news! I agree, I think Morris is ahead of
his time. Check out this and spend some time
reading the 'Richard Geefe' columns. They are written by his
'suicide journalist' character... the one from the Blue Jam
CD. Very very witty but dark as fuck, they left me feeling
very odd.

probably my favourite comedian ever. he got old and wrote
some books. apparently thats what you have to do when you're
old. but i still piss myself laughing at the mary whitehouse
stuff.

I used to enjoy the Mark Thomas Project -- he could be the
UK Michael Moore, only funnier and less tubby.

I really liked him but i don't like the way he is now the
anti-comedian. I read his book "Manners" and it was the most
depressing, unrewarding torture I have had to misfortune to
persevere with. I used to work in a cafe up the Kings Road
and Rob Newman came in once with his agent or someone. When
i brought their drinks over (in my capacity as waiter) he
said something to me and laughed. So he made a special joke
for me, but i didn't hear what he said. I felt warm inside
though. Though he may well have called me a cunt.

jam is a preserve of crushed fruit, an informal term for a
difficult situation; "he got into a terrible fix"; "he made
a muddle of his marriage" ( kettle of fish) or a dense crowd
of people or maybe a deliberate radiation or reflection of
electromagnetic energy for the purpose of disrupting enemy
use of electronic devices or systems.

If you dream of eating jam you will suffer embarrassment at
the hands of a woman through no fault of your own. If you
see a child eating it you will receive a pleasant surprise.
You will have a happy home if you dream of making jam. If
you dream your hands are all sticky from handling jam you
will soon be in a 'jam'.

I found these quotes on cookdandbombd.co.uk

"Is Brass Eye’s Chris Morris about to cash in on his
talents? Morris has been shooting his latest project a
sitcom based in East London and insiders say it’s the
most mainstream thing he’s done. It supposedly revolves
around the character of Nathan Barley a Hoxton-dwelling
trustafarian who features on the spoof TV listings website
TVGoHome.com and is due out later this year on Channel
4." - some newspaper

"As usual the papers have it wrong. A friend of mine who
lives with me in london recently shot a short film and used
Morris's costume designer. She has told stories of the crew
on Morris's new project holding their heads in their hands
whilst shooting because what's being shot is so disturbing."
- some guy

Wooo I'm looking forward to this now :p

baddiel is more likely to call you a cunt, the smarmy
bastard. the last few series of unplanned with wank skinner
clearly showed neither of them couild give a flying fuck.
but i watch skinners sitcom because david schneider cracks
me up something rotten. he doesnt even have to say anything.
schneider deserves recognition, one of the ianucci crew who
was overshadowed by morris.

yeah its not bad. mostly predictable but thats half the fun.
although you can see most of the jokes a mile off, david
schneider makes me piss my pants.

"and thats all the weather!"

One is, of course, reminded of Trevor Griffiths' play "The
Comedians"..
"It's not the jokes. . .it's what lies behind them. A joke
that feeds on ignorance starves its audience. We have the
choice. We can say something or we can say nothing. Not
everything true is funny, and not everything funny is true.
Most comics feed prejudice and fear and blinkered vision,
but the best ones illuminate them, make them clearer to see,
easier to deal with."
