Finally George Lucas film - "THX 1138" is being released on dvd! It´s a classic sci-fi movie about technology, control/oppression and humanity vs machines. The similarities between film and reality are worth considering:
"THX 1138 is how I saw 1970," says Lucas, who eventually gave the name THX to the theater sound certification company he founded. "It was designed as a metaphor for the way we were living at the time. The world has taken a strange twist from there, but I think the ideas we examined in THX 1138 are still valid in the 21st century."
So true!
anyway, I just wanted to say that this is a great film, well worth watching.
(release: 14th september)

(Finally, my PowerBook´s dvd-drive gets something worth playing... never used it for dvd´s though it´s three and a half years old!)

The sounds in the film are probably familiar to sample-spotters outthere - NIN & Dj Shadow among others have sampled stuff from this film.

he's digitally enhanced this too. the trailler looks excellent, and i love the original movie... but, i'm not too sure how i feel about him tinkering with it.
lucas needs to leave his beautiful old masterpieces alone, and quit shitting up his classics with his newfound love for superfluous eyecandy.

yeah, "mr. self-destruct" starts with a THX-sample, if I recognised it correctly.
I hope they release the soundtrack by Lalo Schiffrin one of these days - it's a pretty strange electronic-y soundtrack..

yeah, check out the trailler.
it's definately 'enhanced'.
i mean, don't get me wrong, i still think it looks great, but he's definately tinkered with it.

at least he's only got one more nutkick to our collective childhoods left. after he shits out episode III and wipes his ass with generation x's youthful imagination maybe he'll fade away, or become a marketting exec for hasbro or something.
