kraftwerk gig just finished...

it was pretty good actually...appart from the people who
attended - first of all it was way too crowded...kind of bad
they're so popular...and the people, ohh, what a silly
crowd, there were some girls just infront of me who found
kraftwerk to be quite amusing...they were like:"ohh, look,
they wear ties...ohh and look how old they are"...and then
every time they would change clothes (ie the neone ones), or
when they put robots on stage...well basically every time
they moved the crowd went wild...like some fucking zoo or
something..i really have no idea why so many people came,
cuz obviously they were entertained with everything else but
music...it'd be great to have a smoke with that chill music,
but it was too packed to even light up...damn...
the music selection was perfect...i thought they're going to
present the new album, but instead they were mostly playing
old songs, and it lasted like two hours :)
some songs i quite liked:
-radio activity (probably the highlight for me)
-autobahn
-trans europe express
-the robots
-pocket calculator
-music non stop
-boing boom tschak
- tour the france

im glad i went. i couldn't take any pictures, they were very
strict about that :(

I would have got off on their antics too. I can enjoy the
theatrics and the music. I remember the mtv europe awards
when they played, that was awesome. I'd like to find some
live vids of them playing out

the funniest thing is that people (who were obviously
everything else but electronic music fans...well there were
some of those too), were thinking: "wow they're really good
with those computers", when all they did was probably just
press play in the winamp or something...ah well...

can't keep these artists in yer bakc pocket forever, now.

well, I bet you can keep vsnares, autechre, etc the bunch in
there for a few more years :)

When I saw em live on TV they looked like they had the
rythms playing the whole time automatically, but triggered
other samples through their computer keyboards. One of them
would press his finger down each time a sample or a synth
flourish chimed in.

I wonder if autechre and idm will ever crossover into
mainstream music in a big way. I'd be scared of what to
expect.

Maybe Vespertine by Bjork is an early indicator.

they do play live though. steinberg made a special version
of cubase for them where they can switch patches live with
midi. or do other 1337 stuff with I dunno. but in their show
in holland one of the guys loaded up the wrong patch for the
melodie of a track. so the melodie was there but the sound
was different.

why is that funny? it was so crowded they were more like on
me than infornt of me...and i hate crowd.

elusive, im not sure i know what you're saying...

brokephones, if that's true, it's evem more lame than if
they would actually just press play :)

that's probably for the show, i don't think they do much
live, everything what i've seen on the tv looks so
controlled and programmed

i don't really care how they do it...they play pop music,
and there isn't much space to fool around when you're
presenting songs everyone wants to hear...it's good to see
them no matter how they do it, they're history, and well,
the show is nice too see as well :)

maybe the audience were enthusiastic because Kraftwerk are
the pioneers of electronic music?

i kind of don't think there were that many of the old fans,
and even those are clearly not into electronic music
anymore...or maybe they just don't have the chance to see a
decent gig here, yeah this might be it... it was nice, the
lights, the screens, the music, but you can see this at
almost every electronic gig..ahh...as i said above i just
can't stand people :)

mortsto, it's all silly, but they're kraftwerk so it doesn't
really matter :)

Kraftwerk was one of the gigs that I thought was alot of fun
to attend. I enjoyed it more than the Aphex twin gig
recently this year.

Kraftwerk played in a pretty big venue so it was pretty
good! No real crowd problems.. and Kraftwerk fans arent too
pushy and shovey! either! ;D

I know 100% how you feel.
Kraftwerk will be performing live in Tallinn on the 30th.
I'm worrying about the same reasons - they are making a huge
fucking ad campaign for this event and it will probably end
up being another huge event with no air...
I hate living in a small country. Every time there is some
kind of 'big' thing coming everybody 'has to be there'. Even
the people who have never listened to Kraftwerk.
The worst thing about it is that even the anchor girl in 9AM
news reminds everybody "hey, are you going to the Kraftwerk
concert? It's really cool yaknow.."

fuck

i guess this is what we get when we go see a pop band...ah
well, thank god there isn't too many gigs like this.
and maybe i wouldn't even care aboout the crowd if they were
there for music...but since they were there coz it was a
"cool" thing to do, that kind of bothered me.

i checked that other message board again, and there were
over 20 posts and everyone is saying how much they loved the
gig...and how excellent everything was. people are
weird...or maybe it's me...maybe i should post something and
say what i thought of it, but since i know some of those
people in real life as well, maybe it wouldn't be that
appropriate :)

apperantly someone managed to smuggle in a camera, so if
you're interested here are some pics from the gig - i hope
that whoever took them won't mind if i post this link :)

kraftwerk

you can get a pretty good idea about the crowd...
