Well Mike Skinner has out done himself...this is...without
a doubt...the worst fucking album I think I have ever had
the misfortune to hear (and I have heard some bad albums).

Anyone else heard it?

i really liked original pirate material, but this is, yes,
woeful.

when he toured during livid i had the pleasure of drinking
with him for a few hours afterwards at a bar here in the
valley, really nice guy... its a shame he went and made such
a shit album.

his choruses are fucking terrible, especially when he does
the whole multiple people simultaneously chanting them in
monotonous voices thing...

but his lyrics are so fucking real.
no pretentious, hard to understand metaphors in sight.
you listen, and you understand right there and then EXACTLY
what he's going on about and i for one can relate to so much
of what he says...

i love it.

I look at this "artist" the same way I do with numerous
other lauded groups (Outkast, N*E*R*D, and a thousand others
which I can't think of right now), basically it's so bad
it's good. Because nobody could seriously make something so
dire and do it unintentionally. The problem is, it isn't
good, it's just laughable. In this case, the beats are
weaker than Budweiser, the vocal rhythms are kindergarten
standard and the rhyming is shocking. Shame on you for
listening to him, SHAME on you!

Slight exaggeration?

I don't like the name Skinner either though, or the word
skinning, it's not a nice thought.

I bought this for my g/f last weekend............... makes
me LAUGH! I can't defend the quality, but at least he does
his own thing.......

and i bought Aphex Twin's Classics for her........... a
taste of the good stuff.......... she's a great girl! :)

I'm with Alky - me and my mates have dealt with A LOT pof
the shit that comes up in this release, it's seriously like
it combines the lives of all my close mates into one album.

The music is okaaaaay, but I can't listen to it, the tracks
near the end are too depressing (don't think I've heard the
entire thing, but the one where the girl was pushing him
away - I was like "Man, turn this shit off it's really
really getting me down")

offline darkpromenade from Australia on 2004-06-24 22:43 [#01255354]

for sure.......... certainly lived some of it myself! the
girl going off at him while he's trying to make
excuses.......... hahahaha

YEAH that's a main one, a lotta my mates have to deal to pay
rent etc.

The cheating on girl thing isn't really me (well kinda....)
but the being cheated on and fucked off thing HAS happened
to me BAD so it's really fuckin painful to hear about.
LOL the album suffers from being too real!

And the "too fit" thing I can definitely sympathise with
although I don't girls are generally that snobby in perth,
I've still been had by them
"Hey how's it going haha you're like really gorgeous, can I
get you a drink or something?"
"Umm YOU can't, no"
"Ahahah fuck ya!!!!"

Oh, and to keep it in the context of this thread, I don't
like the streets. His rhymes are melodramitic shit in my
opinion. And his delivery is equally mundane.

yeah, the "too fit" track was the other one!

Perth chicks aren't up themselves then?!?!? Wish I could
say the same about Adelaide! Must admit though, the girls
in my crew are fucking A1!

Hello to all the LADIES!

Hahaha nice one, well we all go to a lotta raves and most of
our crew are randoms we met in raves and decided that they
were really weird/funny/nice and kept in touch with them, so
really being ravers they're not the snobbiest of people,
hehe can be a little short tempered though. *ahem*ice*ahem*

Took me a mo to figger out what you meant there mate
ahahaha

Yeah well we're not all that bad, sure enough though one of
our mates met up with us last weekend saying he went to
broome for a "week off" because he thought he was in his
fucking truman show hahah.

Actally thanks a lot for the movie recommendation man, every
few weeks on a sunday arvo me and my mate end up going
hunting for vids to watch for the crew and we end up a
complete mess in the vid store going "Every video here is
shit. Shit shit shit shit shit"

Spun, eh?
