any films your looking forward to seeing?
i cant wait to see:
Clean - Olivier Assayas 2046 - Wong Kar Wai GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE - Oshii Mamoru (I didn't even know there was a sequel being made!) Farhenheit 911 - Michael Moore House of Flying Daggers - Zhang Yimou (director of Hero)
I wonder what will win, 'In the mood for love' by Wong Kar Wai won before and the sequel '2046' seems to be favourite andlooks AMAZING!
Anyone know how they choose what films are in the competition? I'm glad Troy isn't in there.

2046 is probably the film i want to see the most, if you've ever seen a Wong Kar Wai film you'd know why. Also just look at the cast list!

without having seen the michael moore film, i'm pretty disappointed that it won... i am almost certain that it will be shaky in stretches, because all of his films are in some regard... it's a shame that he has become the official spokesperson for the left because there are times when his arguments and methods can be easily dismantled... and that the film won, shows Cannes trying to make a political statement, as opposed to honouring the best cinema had to offer at cannes... that all said, i am looking forward to seeing it and i do hope he did a good a job as he is capable of, as it could be (as has already been mentioned) a powerful tool for the left in the forthcoming election...

well whatever, we all have different opinions on whats going on in the world today, but this is a thread about Cannes so i'm not going to turn this into a political debate like too many threads here.
anyway, I doubt his film would have won if it weren't for the political climate right now,
"Many critics had rated other films higher, particularly "2046," a soft-lensed, complex love tale by Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai."
can't wait to see it!

i wouldn't want to get into that debate either :) all im going to say is that i belive him just about as much as i belive bush...seems like he knows how to do a good documentary, unfortunately he often gets carried away though.
as far as the rest of those films i was expecting; i've read that kusturica's new one was disappointing and i was kind of hoping it'd be great...ah well...

totally on it DeadEight. Moore is good at what he does but it is not what Cannes is supposedly about.
