(and not managing to make a choice between the orders you
could cancel or keep, when realizing you have ordered too
much.....)

any "cure" against that?

i guess, leaving music messageboards... stop visiting amg,
amazon & co... or getting deaf (even though having ear
problems that prevented me from listening to music didn't
prevent me from buying cds still o_O)

keep buying
make life choices
you cant listen to more than 1 cd/record/tape at a time
i love music
id rather be poor w/music
than rich w/out music

i used to be a paper boy in jr high, every single penny
often went to music

there is a christ, and his name is soulseek.

i do know the joy of posession an album, cover-art and all.
my cd collection got robbed earlier this year, and i had two
options: spend a decade (and thousands of dollars) painfully
reconstructing it, or download. i realized spending my 20s
with access to new music trumps a vague feeling of guilt. i
firmly believe this free music thing won't last much longer,
and i think i'll regret not having used it to hear new stuff
more than i would violating copyright laws. i gave warp too
much money already anyways.

slogans = intellectual laziness

corrupted-girl > of course, but that doesn't tell me how to
get self-control.

recycle > good advice.. : )

happy cycling > damn... condoleances for your CD collection
=(
(and i agree with you, free music won't last forever...)

i don't think all slogans are intellectual lazyness, some
are well found, and better than a long speech... but not
all, of course...

how much music do you have ?
i have apprx. 300 cassettes, they only get listened to when
i mow the yard
50 vinyl, listen to the 12"s very often
and 700cds, of which i like to grab different ones to listen
to, or grab a my selection of "band a" and listen to that

but ive noticed as i get older (almost 30!!) that i buy a
lot fewer cds, less that i like and also more bills in life

our credit card is only at $200 btw :)

(slsk would surely be my friend but i'm on mac os... well i
have opennap and for hard to find stuff i can ask some
friends)

recycle > a bit less than 200 cds...

uzum > remember you dont need EVERY release by EVRry one of
you fav. artists, thats my problem i like so many artists
and think i need them all (or the ones i can afford, ebay
isnt an answer for me)

great music sucks like that :)

ive noticed myself, checking at amazon.com more often, i
finnaly got the correct FSOL "explosives" release :) and for
like $4.00 or so, me so happy

in the past week, i bought:

disjecta - clean pit and lid
disjecta - looking for snags
gy!be - slow riot for new zero kanada
gy!be - yanqui u.x.o.
vincent gallo - when
vincent gallo - so sad
boc - geogaddi
boc - in a beautiful place out in the country
mum - yesterday was dramatic, today is ok
portishead - pnyc
aphex twin - i care because you do..

this is really just the beginning of what i need to buy.

i wouldn't know about 90% of this stuff if it weren't for
filesharing.

in high school I used to buy a cd about every two weeks...
which was great if the cd was a good cd... two weeks is a
good time to really get a feel for the album, and really get
into it... I find now that if I have more then two or three
new cds at a time, I'll find the one I really like, and
neglect the others...
