Why does RockMusic suck so much ?

Is it because the limited use of the instruments, the same
old same old song structures, the stupid lyrics ?? Why ? Why
is anyone still listening to this ?

I feel a similar way actually. But there are still bands out
there keeping the dream alive.

rock is excellent...you probably didn't hear any decent rock
yet, but it's out there, you just have to find it!

wow a signed poster huh???

no they are not dead...they've had two albums since the
album with popular. The follow up to that one is called
"the proximity effect" and fucking rocks, and their latest
is "let go" and rocks too, but you should definately check
the proximity effect.

There is a tiny amount of rock that I like.
On the whole though, rock makes me extremely angry.

It doesn't. It's just that you're a narrow-minded arsehole
who only likes opressive noise made by menopausal,
middle-class whiteboys.

80's rock is beautiful music.
Most shit nowadays is just so bad though.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sigur Ros are excellent.
Though they are fairly left

Godspeed You! Black Emperor gave me faith in the genre,
although that's more like 'post-rock'.

all genres have shitty music.

there's probably about the same percentage of shitty
electronic-made as there is shitty guitar-based music..
you just need to fucking deal with it and not dismiss an
entire style of music because the mainstream bit sucks in
your opinion..

Although your thread is utterly worthless, I feel I must
agree with you. Nobody has a conscience here, everybody
exists within their own ridiculous, nihilistic bubble.

if you lost faith in rock music check out pinback

it's very poppy, i admit, but they have excellent lyrics and
interesting structures

ps didn't you start a topic very similar to this one last
year

Miss Poly Jean Harvey is good. She is my favouriteeee
'rockstar' or indeed the only one I admire.

i've actually heard more rock albums that i thought were
cool this year than electronic probably... (which comes as a
huge surprise to me... because usually, i don't find the
good rock in any given year until much much later...)
i'd like to declare a war on stagnance... because part of
the argument being forwarded here i really do agree with in
that our staple-musical crop is sameness...
verse-chorus-verse bullshit... but it's not just true of
rock music... the same can be said for rap and electronic
(and not just clubtronica... there's a lot of shit coming
out on the labels that people obsess over here that is
complete boring derivative shit)

just remember kids: it's not about the round hole (genre),
it's about the squarepeg (artist) you try to jam in it...

well i should've mentioned (first of all) that we are in
agreeance about the awesomeness of Godflesh...

but i haven't had a chance to hear the dillinger escape plan
or isis yet... i'm grabbing them in slsk right now (because
i really meant to do that, i'd just kind of forgotten...)
should i get celestial or oceanic (by isis)?

Celestial. And definetely the Sgnl>05 EP. It goes together
with celestial and it has the most experimental droney
material they've released.

I hate electric guitar sounds, the high tones and riddle's
from solo artists make me puke, but rock music can be very
good, like Tool for instance or mike patton with mrbungle or
fantomas, really great
