"Spencer Tunick shot to fame in the UK last year with his images of mass nudes at Selfridges and London's Saatchi Gallery. This programme follows him on an epic tour as he photographs 'bodyscapes' around the world from the Cutty Shark to the Eiffel Tower and beyond. "
Great idea, but really, his photos weren't remarkable although he did admit he wasn't there to take really great nude photographs but to document the human form around the world. It was a cool show i have to say. In Melbourne they got 4000 participants - ya dirty gits!

yeah i saw that. he was a bit of a flake wasn't he, i mean is he trying to document the human form, or just make something that looks kinda cool, like an ocean of skin? lots of contradictory ideas and confused double meanings, like much modern art. interesting though.
the cutty sark one: he was saying that he knew 500 people would come, and he would like 800, but you could tell he wanted more than that really. and then 400 turned up, and the london girls that organised it asked him if he was pleased with the turnout, and he was all like "ummm yeah, it's great". i thought that was so delightfully awkward.

He was quite flakey alright. Like he was chancing his arm the whole time - my kinda person. Then in the end he dryly said how he really wished the money would start coming in.... his time in Ireland was a bit of a disaster and in Japan he had to get a couple of extreme anti-salarymen to do it. It did say a bit about national psyches and thats what i found interesting - oh and the sheer nakedness of it all.
But he was right - it was extremely non-sexual. (the russians didn't get that at all though)

yeah blatantly not sexual at all. it did say something about national psyches i suppose, but there's such a sampling bias depending on his method of approaching people and where he does it that it doesn't really say all that much.
for example, maybe he was just walking around a really snooty district of paris, and that's why everyone said no. the response of the authorities in each country was much more interesting.
