The first 2 hours with no score is all a dream. Only the last 20 minutes take place "for real". There, now go understand it. Some of the chicks are the same person also.

I don't think my irony quite came through as much as I hoped it to.
The thing is, someone explained the movie to me like this and I was supposed to understand it based on that. Yeah right. I still don't understand all of it. I can understand the dream bits with Naomi's character being very special (the audition and getting the girl), but alot of it is just too weird.

Hm. Reading over this again for the first time in a while. I kind of get the feeling that Lynch's movies are tied together kind of like King's Dark Tower ties into most of his other books. There seems to be the a similar kind of 'behind the scenes' spiritual evil element that flows throughout. Other cross-references keep popping up too, some of which they mention in that review. Interesting.

think i've changed my mind about this film, has to be the most straight forward weird film he has made... his films are better when they are more abstract and surreal and don't quite make sense.
When everything ties up neatly as it does in this film it leaves a bad taste, thankfully Inland Empire was more like how a Lynch film should be, i'd like to see someone figure out that film!

exactly, its like a nightmare on screen, its brilliant
whereas Mulholland drive is just a simple story with one part being a dream and the other reality. Once you figure that out its about as interesting as an episode of Neighbours.

The actor might technically be a woman, but the character is a man.
Talking about his dream, the guy clearly said: "There's a man in back of this place."
