I am a fuckin idiot i admit.. but i am struggling with the
ipod i just bought..

Two probs i am hoping someone can help with:

I have loads of mp3s on computer that i made from cd using
mediaplayer - cant get itunes to recognise these. Am i doing
something wrong, or do you have to make mp3s again using
itunes?

When i make mp3 from cd in itunes it doesnt add artist or
track titles like it does in mediaplayer. Do i really have
to type all that shit in myself?

I am terrible with computers please somone help me with
this!!! thanks.

In Itunes you can go to the Advanced pull down and select
"Get CD track names" but you have to be connected to the
internet. I'm not sure about mediaplayer files, I'm ona mac.

Oh in preferences if you select "connect to internet when
needed" it should get those Track names, etc. when the CD is
recognized by Itunes. Hope I helped. Once you get it working
you'll wonder what you ever did without an Ipod.

When you do the get cd track names it says CDDM information
not available for some of these items.. but they are not
obscure records - it didnt work for sex pistols never mind
the bollocks, cant get much more famous than that..

iTunes is pretty much useless for anything other than
updating the songs on your iPod.

EAC will rip cds like a pro
LAME will encode mp3s for you, and you can get EAC
to use it as it rips your cds.
Tag&Rename will download song names, artist, album name,
album art, year, etc and update your tags for you. You can
use it to rename and organize the mp3s as well.

Then you can just drag your mp3 folders onto your iPod in
iTunes.

Also - i assume you have to pay for those useful programmes
you mention?

EAC and LAME are both freeware. Tag&Rename will work with
all functions for 30 days. There are... other ways of
*buying* it.

Why your mediaplayer mp3s don't work in the ipod is beyond
me. It may seem like a stupid question, but first of all,
are you sure they're mp3s are not wma or anything that's
microsoft specific? From what I understand winamp or
whatever mp3 player you use will play them just fine
so they might be something other than mp3s without you even
noticing.

I haven't come across an mp3 yet that won't work on my ipod,
so...

Thanks - i am a muppet with computer so most of this is
beyong me, but i think you are right, they are not mp3 they
are actually wma files.

Found a cool site www.ipodlounge.com that has loads of
tutorials and stuff for idiots like myself.

Appreciate your help KC i think i can see the light

I have loads of mp3s on computer that i made from cd
using
mediaplayer

Windows Media Player? This leads me to believe that they
aren't mp3's, but actually windows media audio (.WMA). If
this is the case, I'm very very sorry for you.
