radio show - last of semester (tune in!)

in a few minutes the LAST radio show until fall semester
will start. i'm really grateful to all those who have
listened in the last few weeks; some of these threads have
gotten really big and that's pretty cool for someone who's
not around much lately. so know that it's appreciated. i'm
glad people enjoy listening and on today's final show i'm
playing requests from Ceri JC and LeCoeur. i would play
Alberto's request but he told me he'll be out of the house
seeing kraftwerk so i told him to have fun and i'll play his
request next time. i could possibly have a voluntary show
next week sometime but i'll be pretty busy with finals.

anyway, today i'm playing brand new music from Ceri JC (i
don't think any of you have heard this track yet!), N.E.R.D.
(non-album remix), Common (unreleased song), Talib Kweli (my
favorite song of 2004 so far), and Madvillain, oldies from
Prince and AFX, rare tracks from Bjork (unreleased song from
last year's tour) and Radiohead, plus Autechre, DJ QBert,
Jaylib, etc.

begins in 25 minutes at 4 PM EST (9 PM in the UK),
lasts 2 hours

*** streaming audio link here (Windows Media Player required) ***

anyone who can prove they're listening gets a personal
shoutout on air!

still interested to hear if it's coming through with both
left and right stereo channels, especially if earthleakage
can confirm

I always greatly enjoy the mixage of DJ Titsworth and
ardently look forward to some of his unique tuneology in the
cumming 20 odd minutes.

up to hear you talking and then turn it back down when the
tracks come in. Cheers.

I don't know if you've ever played The Sims but that last
track sounded like a mix of music from that + beats and
rapping :)

it is and it's next to impossible to find now... for a
musical genius like yourself i am willing to get it to you,
however

the new singing is done by a gospel singer... you can hear
paul mccartney though

in case anyone's curious, they not only sampled the original
but also the rare instrumental version on one of the
anthology cd's.. and of course lots of nice new instruments
and programming provided by kanye

:(

This one with the high-pitched R&B female vocals has a nice
beat.

Damn, surely there's genuine hip hop beyond Definitive Jux.
I gotta be a little more adventurous.

OK did anyone hear doom say "STEREEREREREO"?? that would
tell me if both left and right channels are coming through

nothing to do w/ gray album... it's talib kweli "lonely
people" prod. kanye west, from 'the beautiful mix cd' and
possibly kweli's upcoming album is he can clear the
sample... lyrics of the year IMO

ok thanks max even though that's bad news
keep listening for anything that sounds "off" (maybe kweli's
vocals were mixed heavily to the possibly still missing left
channel?)

ceri this is one of my favorites but you have a lot of
bangers on your new demo.. i'd be playing something just
about every week if this weren't the last show

I don't get it. I hardly know any Prince songs.. but I
always know it's him from the starts of his songs :/

Thanks mate- I think there is less filler on this CD than
the last one. Looking at my last 20 tracks or so, there are
a far higher proportion of decent tracks than in my earlier
stuff :)

Yep! There are Ejay samples on there :)

I was trying to do your typical danceable tech-house- lots
of samples, 133bpm, sequenced in Live from loops made
elsewhere. I was wondering how long before someone spotted
it. I think it's the only track I've ever made available
that has contained an ejay sample, aside from some
unreleased DnB that uses a couple of bass samples and a
chopped up ejay breakbeat.

I won a load of ejay sample CDs in a music competition at my
uni, and whilst I loathe that program, some of them're good
:)

hip-hop and electronica were first done by prince 20 years
ago
