WARP OVERPRICING RECORDS

there is no other way to state it, warp mart is WAY TOO
EXPENSIVE

i orderer a 2lp, and a 7inch from them - with postage came
out to be $40. USD !!! it doesnt help that the US dollar
isn't worth a damn anymore, BUT the issue could be easily
resolved

i would figure that if you order from a label their stuff
should be a little cheaper if they have cut out the middle
man - yet i can order the same 2LP here for nearly 7 less,
plus cheaper shipping

also - there is no perk to ordering from them - no promo's,
no stickers, they did send me a sticker once, ONCE, out of
god knows how many orders i made when the dollar was worth
more to the pound

this has in turn made me stop, completely, from ordering
from them - there is NO perk - shipping is too much - and
whats the worst part? they overprice the records that are on
THERE LABEL!!!

even compare it to boomkat. - warp mart is normally 1 to 2
pounds more expensive...for no reason

LAME ! ! !

"i can order the same 2LP here for nearly 7 less,

"

Why didn't you do that, then?

misspelled there

should be their

ho hum

i was trying to get the squarepusher promo cd so i chanced
it - that was the ONLY reason - now i'll never order from
them again

the whole point is i would assume a label would like to be
fair and get it's music out as much as possible, not be such
fucking rock stars

how much does a 2 x 12" cost there?

also makes me feel a lot less bad when people make love to
mp3's

i hope that hurts profits too, sucks being a collector
sometimes

I think you're overreacting; it's mostly because of the
state of the dollar at the moment. They are doing 'bleep' so
you can't really say they are being unfair or trying to be
rock stars.

offline euphonicfilter from illadelphia (United States) on 2004-05-04 09:11 [#01172583]
Points: 2443 Status: Addict

well it varies - esp with european things

japanese discs are always WAY too expensive ($25-$35)

most recent warp stuff on 2LP is around $16-$19 (depending
of course upon where you buy it)

singles are pretty steady at $10

offline neetta from Finland on 2004-05-04 09:13 [#01172584]

because in usd if i buy a 2 x 12" in finland i pay from 24$
to 29$ in usd and thats in a shop...

offline euphonicfilter from illadelphia (United States) on 2004-05-04 09:14 [#01172586]

no i can say they are, because they are

if i made records i would sell them direct to people for $5
each - if i sold it to a middle man (store, be it online or
otherwise) i would sell it for $5 still - they then mark it
up - make their profit all is good

the perk would be ordering from me - you get it FROM me, i
can give you a sticker or a note or whatever - plus you know
im getting the profit to turn out more music

it's more intimate and less rock star

I think Warp are cheap myself. What you're copping the price
on is the import/export costs.

Warp sell their stuff at cheaper than the english price. HMV
wanted £17.99 for Big Loada. Hmmmmm, it's a LOT cheaper in
WarpMART.

It's not Warps fault you pay so much. You should complain to
your government about the prices you pay to import stuff.
Won't change a fucking thing but there you go.

warp is not the chapest.... but its far for being expensive

its not warps fault if USA´s economy is crashing despite of
the belicist tactics to raise it up again

i dont argue with the sales - what i argue with is boomkat
being cheaper selling warp records releases then warp is

not cd's cause cd's are my issue - vinyl is

its not our govt's fault - besides the fact our people are
fuct, bush is fuct, and our money is fuct

im talking about the prices amongst UK SHOPS and the royal
mail - NOT the value of the USD

plus, not that i complain, but when a UK shop mails me wax
they put "promo vinyl" on the declaration which clears them

I can see the slogans now:

"Come to the UK- you get raped in tax and get nothing back
from the government, but at least you can buy records
reasonably cheaply."

Whoops, make that records from our labels. Remember,
we pay obscene amounts of import costs on American labels
music for certain releases :(

I made an order at neomod.com and for a 200 dollar order
they charge me 66 dollars for postage? haven't placed the
order yet, still in doubt cause of the postal rate; is this
normal for overseas packages? and anyone else ordered from
neomod before? is it reliable?

we ship 2-3 day priority mail, $4 shipping on 1 & 2 cd

my order:

you are confusing matters.

if you say you think Warps own stock could be priced
cheaper, you could be right.

other stuff - no. they're still a shop. they do still have
to pay the people who work there.

now, you can be just like any other customer and have a look
at different shops and notice that some import stuff is
cheaper elsewhere. order it THERE then.
warpmart is NOT warp records. they owe you nothing because
they're affiliated with a label.

and I'm really sick about all the whining about freebies.
they're freebies. little extra's. it's not normal for
you to get free stuff with your order, you are just lucky if
you do.

(just had a quick look at warp's titles @ boomkat and @
warpmart - it would seem all of them are 1 to 3 pounds
cheaper at warpmart.)

The US's CD prices are just cheaper period, disregarding
exchange rates. UK products are never going to rival the US
in terms of price IMO.

Bleep is awesome I agree. Great value... they said something
ages ago about expanding the service to other labels a la
warpmart... hope that happens, it will give me an affordable
way to get Snares' back catalogue.
