i'm about to start working on a very interesting but
probably quite hard diploma thesis - software sound
synthesis and electronic music generation system. generally
something like a programming environment or and sdk for an
existing environment (that's still unclear - i'm now just in
the thinking-about-this-thing-i-have-in-mind phase) that
will hopefully allow people to compile source code to audio
output. and hopefully something more comfortable to use than
csound.

anyway, this was just the introduction (which is much longer
than the question itself for which i apologize :)).

so: i was wondering if you could direct me to some sources
(preferrable websites) about advanced sound synthesis and
processing algorithms (mostly lowlevel stuff, the
mathematics that lay underneath).

if you don't put http:// at the beginning of your links, the
browser will interpret them as something in the local
domain.

Simply put, if you're linking something off-site, put
http:// at the beginning :)
