Sawcutter

J198 from the netherlands on 2002-01-02 17:18 [#00065627]

i read about this program in a post about how to make crazy
sounds and i downloaded it. its pretty cool even though i
still dont know how to use it properly. does anybody else
use this program? i'd really like to hear some sawcutter
created tunes.

Taxi on 2002-01-02 17:23 [#00065630]

Its kinda neat, but relies too much on looping of certain
sounds. Plus its hard to go beyond (I think its) eight
measures in a song. I don't know. It also requires a lot of
system to run. I liked it... just thought its drawbacks
outweighed its possibilities.

Hella fun to play with tho.

yeah, but couldn't you make eight measures worth of music,
save it, make another eight measures, save it... sequence em
w/ another program? i have it, but haven't really used it
much, but I imagine the it would be handy for certain
things.

i use it all the time...and youre right it does need a lot
of system...if you try to record too long or have too many
things going on...it gets really slow..
i've only been using it for a few months and am still
figuring it out...though it does seem to have a lot of
potential..

i have some tracks i made with it up at my ampcast
site...i've been using it to make melodies until
know...though im going to start using it for percussion as
well i think...
my site:
http://www.ampcast.com/ford_prefect
all the tracks are sawcutter-assisted except for the ones
towards the bottom...

I agree that you could sequence the different bits after the
fact, but that really makes it awkward. I like the fluidity
of doing most of the sequencing in one program.

Mind you I have used it in a few of my tracks. Just for
single sounds and things like that.

wayout from a plastic bubble on 2002-01-02 19:34 [#00065681]

there is a sequencer in sawcutter you know...

Nice little program. I was up and running in seconds. I
think the Sawcutter team needs a graphic artist though :)
Damn that's one ugly looking app.

you have to record what you're doing and then save the
recorded bit as a wav.
and then use whatever wav->mp3 software you use to convert
that

In the file menu "export wav file" or something like that.
Use Winamp or something to convert mp3.

I think it's a great looking app.

it records live...so as long as you keep recording it
records all the sequences that are played

yes, first 30 tries free then pay for a password.
alternatively if/when someone finds the registry key for
this then post it up. ill have a look later. available for
d/l now. ive not even used it yet but it sounds great.
simple but effective - my motto for life.

I paid for mine. I love the prog and felt I should support
something out of all the stolen software I use.
