Great track - there's not a lot of musicians who can do the
rough drums and floaty textures thing and still hold my
attention. Great music, great production.

Did you do this in FL? Slicing and stuttering a drumloop
like that is sheer punishment in anything but.

yeah this was my first experimenting with drill in FL.

Goddamn, first experiment? You'll bury us all. What did you
use for the pads and floaty textures? Me rikee.

also: why cant i make a 4.5/4 bar when im in 4/4 or 3 parts
in one beat when i have 4,
without changing all those other patterns

offline kochlear from aud-stim.com on 2004-05-03 20:37 [#01171954]
Points: 2311 Status: Addict

uh i use WASP for all my synths now.

once my good computer is fixed i'll be back to using absynth
though.

big...there is a way to do that, i forget where i saw it
though. the program basically has everything you need but
requires you to play hide and seek with alot of the cool
features.

offline kochlear from aud-stim.com on 2004-05-03 20:39 [#01171959]
Points: 2311 Status: Addict

here's a way around it...if you want half a beat you can
Zoom Close on the playlist then set your snap to 1/2 and
simply leave the last 2 blocks of a 5 bar pattern blank,
then overlap your next pattern starting where you want it.

Yeah, when you open a beat in a slicer channel, then you go
into the piano roll and rearrange shit, fuck it up good, and
when you have a hit or something you want to stutter, drag
the note out long and hit ctrl-U to open the chopper. You'll
figure it out. Then down below that you can select pan,
velocity and pitch for each note in your stutter and drag
the pencil tool so the drill goes from high to low or left
to right or quiet to loud. Or something. Don't overdo it.
It's a spice, not a potato.

also I'd like to add that I'm not impressed with the breaks
because everyone can cut up an amen break. but the whole
arrangements of melodies, pads and breaks is wat makes this
track very good.

I'm suprised how good this song is considering that the
stuff you usually do is a bit more,.. uh,.. understated and
ambient like..

good work moite

This is excellent. Your ambient synth line is brilliant. Is
all your ambient stuff like this? I need to listen to your
other material now.

I really like the first minute, you really think it's going
to build into something ace, but then what follows, FOR ME
(and doubtless me only) is a bit of a let down. I don't know
if it's just the sound, when it fades out again round 1:50
it's cool again, but then it comes back and it's...it's...i
don't know, not enough to be the main...umm thing.. that
cheapy keyboard riff. I think if you just took it out the
track's ace, IMO and only M, ....i really like the rest of
it, it has a great sound, just the main riff spoils it for
me. Please don't hate me, more than i already loathe myself.
