Ya

Yesterday I was at a hip-hop event.. there were several
artists performing (including Pharoahe Monch and Erick
Sermon).. one of the groups that performed were Youngblood
Brass Band.. I had never heard of them before, but I have to
say that they were FUCKING GREAT!

They alternated their songs so that every other song had an
MC, and every other was brass-jazz... They had this really
cool tuba-player who, in my opinion was the guy who did most
for the show (imagine being slightly drunk, standing
up-front on a hip-hop event where seven brass-players + an
MC with a snaredrum and a cymbal + a guy with a HUGE ASS
bassdrum, and a HUGE guy with a HUGE FUCKING tuba bouncing
around on the stage, making show! AND.. when the MC was
MCing, the tuba guy took over the drum, and it takes
something to be able to keep the beat while playing a tuba,
TRUST ME!)

The only bad thing about them is that the album (out now, I
think) COULD be a little.. unvaried, but that's the problem
with all "gimmick" groups.. I'll buy the album, though,
'cause that shit ROCKED!

they are americans, as a matter of fact they play many
benefits for my old high school's music program...how weird
to think of those guys playing across the world? the tuba
player is insanely good...

not really my kinda thing though.

I like their cover of Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" a
lot.
