When I read about Aphex tracks, here and elsewhere people try to explain away tracks of his that they don't like as it being Richard having a laugh, or taking the piss out of the scene. It happened with Smojphace, the recent topic I bumped where someone implied the Ventolin remixes were a joke to intentionally make himself look bad. It's as though some people are scared to admit that there are some tracks of his that they don't like and they try to explain it away by implying that Aphex never wanted people to like them in the first place. As far as I have witnessed this sort of excuse making has only ever been levelled at Aphex. I just wondered why people do it. I hope this makes more sense. |

I though the entire Come to Daddy EP sounded like a joke. Luckily it was a funny, well thought out and totally rinsing joke, so it doesn't really matter. |

I think there is a lot of humour in his music...however I don't think (I may be wrong) that he would release something he feels has no (or very little) artistic merit what so ever just to piss off fans. |

yes, but all I am saying is if you don't like it you don't like...I am not trying to say force yourself to like everything :D Just don't make excuses when he releases what, in your opinion, is a duff track. |

i see...yes, i agree on that very much...i wouldn't mind if i'd find out smojphace was just a joke...if i'd like the music that is :) which i don't, and that is why i expect something really good to be released really soon!! |

I think this has happened with Aphex Twirp because he has released a few "jokey" tracks - the ones that contain a bit of noise that translate into pictures. but you are completely right - this behaviour annoyed me very much when smojphace came out. you could hear little hearts breaking all over the world in disappointment and then the "He's Just Taking The Piss"-brigade tried to rescue lives. ha ha. |
