I reckon it should be "fuzzy" time indications (like This
auction ends tommorow, or this auction ends today). People
should just put their max bid and that's that.

it happens loads - there was even a web based service that
did it for you at the last second for a fee - it sucks arse
when u think youve got a item for a good price

I don't think that'll work very well on something as
international as the internet.

anyway.. so you got sniped on eBay.. boohoo.. it's part of
the deal. you know that when you bid on eBay.

i hate those people that go in at the last minute or so and
keep bidding up each increment until they finally get ahead
of you and then they somehow time it so you can't come back
and slap the extra dollar on.

being sniped by a proxy doesn't bother me tho, you can tell
cos they make one bid at 30 secs left and just beat the shit
out of everyone else.

one thing i bid on moved 175 dollars in the last 10 mins cos
3 of these guys were going for it at the same time, and in
the end only one of them ended up ahead of me. that pissed
me off.

I wonder if snipers understand that when an auction ends, it
simply stops taking more bids... ebay still ups the bids
between the highest bidders once the auction is closed. Say
"x" bids £22 max, and is winning at £11, 10 seconds before
the auction closes and "y" snipes at £21. "X" will still
win and it'll be £21.20... it's not like "y" will winit
for £11.50 or anything.

You seem to constantly defend ebay. Do you work for
them/have a lot of shares in them or something?

I was not aware that I was constantly defending eBay?

this has little to do with eBay anyway - this is about
little shits sitting in front of their computer watching the
clock, thereby turning half of the regular eBay users in the
same little shits out of need.

and I just think snipering has been talked about to DEATH -
eBay will sure as hell never do anything about it (why
should they - noone is NOT bidding because of it) and there
will always be eBay-snipers.

it may suck, but there you go. it's the risk you take when
bidding on eBay. we'll just have to deal with that.

ebay = gay

if you squint your eyes you can see the "eb" turn into a
"g"

and thus making it "gay"

Why would someone not bid a last minute bid and attempt to
win ? Its just like the a "real world" auction, if you have
tons of money, you get what you want

im currently bidding on a 5' tall oreo

exarctly.. I mean, that's mostly what I use eBay for these
days.

if I want a rare record, I first have a look on
www.gemm.com. some CRAAAZY prices on there, but also quite
a lot of reasonable ones.

If you bid the absolute maximum you're willing to pay, it
shouldn't matter if you get sniped (because the price would
be more than you're willing to pay). The fact that they bid
at the last second has nothing to do with it, they still bid
higher than you.

what if you talk to the seller and tell them you got sniped?
Maybe they'd understand and cut you a break. Isn't this
deviant behavior?

why is it deviant behaviour?

it's all within eBay rules. the sniper has the highest bid,
so he wins.

eBay sucks and blows like a cheap whore.

It's good for getting shit but you've got to play the game.
I learnt that.
