i like what little i've heard of him.

what's his best album?

i liked the album with the black cover, whatever that was.
and i liked the little bits of his newest album that i've
listened to.

Artifakts BC is a pretty good one. It's nice to listen to
while you work on something.

Yeah, Artifakts BC is great. 'Psyk' is an awesome track, by
far his best ever IMO. The black album is called 'Consumed'
and my fave track off that one is the title track
'Consumed'(track 10). It's very similar to 'Psyk', but
without the far east scale melodies. Instead it has some
great filtering.

All of the tracks on Consumed are good, mostly because they
stick to the winning formula of minimal beats with heavy
monotonous basslines. Overall, Consumed is a much better
album than, Artifakts BC. BC means "before consumed".

Me recommend.

consumed is nice, and so is his new one: closer...

... plus his mix sets are like the best in the world...!

i was and still am dissapointed by this new work from
Richie, closer doesn't get with me like the earlier ones.
my best albums would be MUZIK,ARTIFAKTS BC and CONSUMED.
btw,did anybody noticed the lil phrase in the cover of the
consumed ?
if you look very carefully inside of the black cover (to the
left) u'll see the magic phrase that expresses the Consumed
album!

"Music For Potential Space"

yeh mate,u got all of my words that i thought to say...did
you enjoyed the story on the cover of Artifakts BC?
it's pretty much a sythetic release than the others...kinda
planned very deeply.

i only saw him under the Richie Hawtin guise and that was
last year on one big festival where me and my alter ego
played.
i was lucky to have a vip pass and pay CLOSE attention when
he performed.
dunno what to say..he's my guru from the day one i heard
Plastikman sound.
i always looked up to him and to all of the detroit crew...
and as for the mixes...he's got a manic precision in em!

I was just thinking about him. I've only heard his new album
at a listening booth at a store. But it was cool.

I played after him in Belgium a few weeks back and he's
surrounded himself with gimmicks! Ritchie used to be a
brilliant party DJ playing the best 'techno', 'I bleedin'
dm' and cool music but now it's like a 'one man band' with
final scratch, ableton, tc-electronics, Reaktor etc being
used half style. He needs to sort out his priorities.

true yeah, but hey u know that there's a big pressure onm him
regarding that term.
he's now gotta constantly be two steps ahead every dj,cos
ppl expect that, they need to see Richie doing it's best in
every fuckin way.
that time he used final scratch, ableton and tc electronics
plugins.
shamefully, his electrician had a major problem so they
didn't have an outpt sound for da laptop,so he needed to
play on trntables.
and i gotta say it sucked as in the style and the
precission...

I personally don't care too much for Richie Hawtin's artist
albums as Plastikman but I really like the DE9 mixes and he
is great live, there is no question about that. I don't
think I really appreciated minimal techy stuff until I came
across it in that context.

Musik is the quintessential Plastikman record, followed
"closely" ;) by Consumed and Closer...

"Plastique" is still amazing...
