Yep, it's important to remember that men are genetically programmed to protect women, in much the same way women are programmed to protect children and that regardless of whether or not you want to "mate" with a women, you will feel protective towards her (to a degree) if she is in danger. One of the reasons women are not allowed to fight in the frontline in the forces in many countries is not that they are not efficient killers (women who are good marksmen tend to be very good), or lack the ability to be good soldiers, but rather that the male soldiers will be unable to "break" this genetic need to protect them and for example, may put other members of the platoons welfare secondary to the female soldiers (for example, going back for them when they would abandon a male soldier as lost, lacking the guts to execute a mercy killing on them when they are heavily wounded and with no chance of medical attention, etc.) I take a fairly similar view to you, I'm for women's lib and certainly believe that they should have the right to vote, have professional careers in areas such as medicine/architecture/whatever, but at the same time tend to be comparatively polite and helpful (giving them your coat, helping with heavy lifting, fixing cars, etc.) to them. What I don't do, is allow women who cynically exploit this goodwill to walk all over me. |
