Lickle piano track + album sampler...

Piano 1.0:
Stream - Download

A Midsummer Nice Dream [album sampler]:
Stream - Download

The piano tune is my attempt at some sort of classical piano
tune. A few of the samples are a bit crackly, but it's not
too noticable on speakers.

The album sampler contains clips of tracks due to come out
on my Toytronic album. There are a few old tracks on there,
which you might recognise, remastered and generally
sweetened up.

Hope you like them anyway, thanks.

Oh yeah, the EP's there to download fully now too,
as it seems distro has dried up for the physical release. :(

Piano 1.0 is pretty cool... I'd say its a good attempt at
classical... the melodies were pretty sweet for the most
part.. and that progression at the very beginning was
awesome.... I would actually like to see that turn
into the basis for a different song, one that relies more
heavily on that progression.

I have no mouse right now, so navigation is taking me a
while, and quicktime crashes a lot in IE so it might take me
a while to listen to the sampler.. but I will eventually

how much of the new album is actually unreleased material
though? I only listened to the first few tracks, but they
were both ones I've heard (many times) before... just
curious if I should expect some surprises... ;)

5 you've heard, 5 you have not. I've altered the old tracks
slightly too, though admittedly fairly subtly. Glad the
piano went down okay, thanks.

Cheers Ambsace - glad you're looking forward to the lp. :)

Wonderfull stuff, I personally can't wait for this album.
Good thing my student loan just came through so I can afford
to buy it when it's out.

compose differently. I really hate... how do you call
those... umm variations to a theme ?

Absolutely lush as hell and without a doubt Rephlex/Warp
material in a fucking instant!!!

Oh man there are some truly truly fucking sweet tracks in
this sampler. Tear jerking stuff! If someone gets signed to
Rephlex/Warp I would no way be surprised if it wasn't Ochre.

The piano track reminds me of dubussy in quite alot of
ways.

Your album sound like it's going to be great are you going
to post here when it's out and stuff?

The piano track was excellent. Just like old classical it
uses volume and tempo as part of the pallete of creativity.
It's not the best classical melody I've heard but
quite good, still I couldn't make that. It seemed to rely on
fancy rain-like series of notes to make it structurally
interesting rather than just the right ones to make it
emotionally interesting.
Did you simply play the piano while recording, or was this
made on a computer? The only way I could make the recording
with a real piano is by recording each independent melody
seperately since I can't play.

How much money do you make, say, a year off a toytronic
release. Also do toytronicians have some sort of
relationship with eachother, ie do you and whatshisface...
mr. projectile collaberate or something?

oh, yes. and the piano track was rather tasty, too. playful,
but moody at the same time. very nice.

Piano-track: lovely. simply lovely. I've been working on a
classical piano-track too lately (although not even half as
good as half as good as this track!), actually writing the
notes before playing it.

The rest sounds great! Am I to understand that this is
something that will be put out on cd and / or vinyl?

The Album Sampler Is Awesome....Im really looking forward to
a full release.

Ochre has bags more talent than most signed artists.

I'm 90% sure that it's moslty sequenced...

I'm 50% sure that it's entirely sequenced

I'm 100% sure that it's a good track regardless.

There are parts where it sounds like there are 3 different
melodies in different octaves (impossible unless you are a
mutant) and some of the playing is VERY fast and would
require incredible talent (not that Ochre isn't very
talented)... but still. It just kind of sounds
sequenced to me..

hmm... The program would have to have some very intuitive
control over tempo before I would even attempt to use tempo
like that on a computer. Good point though 3 octaves= 3
hands...

yeah his timing is pretty crazy throughout that track.. but
it's possible he's a wiz at math and figured out all the
timings himself...(?)

Cheers guys!

Yes - it is 100% sequenced and programmed. I just automated
the tempo and piano velocity in Cubase, to try and get it
sounding a bit more human (I can't play keys to save my
life). I'm glad it's gone down fairly well, so thanks a
lot.

Skink - Debussy might be an influencial factor, as I do have
some of his mp3s - La Mer and Children's Corner (don't know
what CC is about? Haven't listenend yet)

Promo - thanks mate! I'm so pleased the sampler's going
down well too. I've been making changes to the tracks that
have already seen light of day, so hopefully they'll sound
much cleaner etc on CD/vinyl.
