is there software that'll let me put a filter on one of my audio cards outputs?
id like to put a filter on the rear speaker outoutput, so only subwoofer frequencies go to my 2.1 desktop speakers connected to it, while the front speaker output (which goes to a seperate amp and bookshelf speakers) gets the rest of the frequencies
basically i want to use only the subwoofer from my 2.1 computer speakers with my bookshelf speakers
heres the backstory: the bookshelf speakers are a lot better, except that they dont have much bass, and pushing up the bass on the amp's EQ muddles the whole sound
the bass from the subwoofer is much tighter, i want to add it to the bookshelf speakers
unfortunately i cant turn off the satellites of the 2.1 desktop speakers without also turning the sub off
currently i have the 'front' speaker output going to my stereo reciever tahts driving 2 big book shelf speakers
the 'rear' speaker output is going to my 2.1 altec lansing computer speakers
i dont use them in a surround configuration, i just use one or the other.... if im sitting at my computer, the 2.1, if im away from it, and for more serious listening, the bookshelf, and i just change the creative sound mixer levels to move the sound to the 'front' or 'back')

like volume control/surround mixer software that has individual EQs for each chanel, that would be perfect
the soundcard is an audigy 2 platinum btw currently to use the surround outputs i have to use creative's surround mixer software

isn't it easier to buy an subwoofer instead of inventing warm watter?
is that audigy 2 platinum internal or external soundcard?

i thought there were settings to adjust all that in creative surround mixer.... if not, you can always go the hardware route and build a little enclosure with some frequency limiting capacitors (those are what would do the job correct?)

its internal
the creative surround mixer doesn't have individual EQs for each channel, or for each output
only an overall one
it has the capability to control a subwoofer individually, but mine is hooked to my satellites
how would i go about building this little enclosure? yes that would do the trick... if its not to expensive
turning off the audio to my satellites while keeping the control connection would also do the trick.... i can disconnect the left satellite and the subwoofer continues to work, but the right satellite contains the volume and bass/trebble controls, and it has a different connector to the sub, one with lots of little metal rods, not a usual audio jack
maybe i could open up the right satellite and disable the speakers inside (it has 2 small high freq tweeters and a mid-range speaker) without affecting the on/off/volume knob..... does anyone know how hard that is to do?
im tempted to mess around with this stuff just for the fun of it but i dont want to permanently damage them
the speakers are Altec Lansing ATP-3

Logic Audio with proper ASIO settings will display all recognized physical outputs in it's environment as MASTER 1-2 MASTER 3-4 etc, depending on your card.
