Squarepusher : Vancouver

Oh my shit.
That man can play bass like a motherfucker. Seeing him is
going to change the way I listen to his music now. I thought
so much of his stuff had been edited on the computer to make
it sound more complicated. The man plays it live. His right
hand was moving so quickly that I could barely see his
thumb. It's like he's possessed.

There were so many times when my friend and I just had to
look at each other, speechless, unable to believe what we
were hearing. A night I won't forget :)

I'm sure there were some other board members at the show.
Who went?

I mingled with a few people there... If you met someone at
the show who introduced himself as Colin, maybe that was me
:D

So I've figured out that he started the show with Venus no.
17 off the Ultravisiter bonus disc but there are still a few
songs from the show that I didn't recognize. I'm wondering
if they were unreleased or from something that I haven't
heard yet.

Anyone know what the setlist was?

Yeah, the sirens. It was brilliant.

I'm sure there must be some squarepusher fans here that are
more familiar with his material than I am and have seen him
at one of this tour's shows.

A lot of the songs were new to me, but there are some that I
recognized. I'm pretty sure he played the following but the
order is fuzzy:

Venus no 17
I Fulcrum
Dimotane Co. I just about jizzed all over Vancouver when
this song started. I was praying that he would play it and
he didn't let me down :D
Menelec
C-Town Smash
Anstromm-Feck 4. He actually played the melody for this on
bass instead of using a sequenced synth. He even kept up
with the sick pace of the song.
Steinbolt
Tetra-Sync (So good)

-- Encore
Come On My Selector with an extended bass intro and some
extra noodling on his bass after the song as well. He did
lots of little solos.

I was suprised to hear absolutely nothing from Go Plastic or
(from what I could tell) Music is Rotted. The latter would
have been a good backdrop for some bass work.

Why isn't there more talk about music on here and less talk
about stupid wank that has nothing to do with anything?
Squarepusher plays in LA and there isn't a single fucking
review on here? Too busy jerking off about Kill Bill or
something. Anyway, the setlist in LA featured only one new
track, besides offically released stuff and the breezeblock
tracks. But it was really good, fast clippy rave mash up
with a nice acid line, super danceable. Lots of high end
cymbally stuff, moved at a nice clip. Was good to hear some
of the old tracks played out with some additional dsp
processing and of course the live bass. Nobody else went to
this? Bastards.

If you look at the post directly above yours you will see
another review. Try not to be so angry. Smooth

I saw 'Pusher live in London very very earlier on in his
career back in probably '97 and it was absolutely awesome.

Yah I had to dig about 10 pages back to find it. Why can't
they display more headings per page? 9 pages of wank for 1
page of info. The reviews above are from Canada not CA. Kind
of weird how little these shows are being talked about on
here.

I didn't think it was awful or anything, it was pretty funny
I thought, but they definetely milked the mask thing a bit
much. The actual real cassetteboy tracks are decent, not
sure about the performance art aspect.

I got kinda bored with Castteboy, but I don't think I've
ever been happy watching an opening act. Not that they're
always bad, but I just want to see the artist I've paid to
see.
