When the needle skips easily is too late. It's all dependent
on how heavy you have the needle resting on the vinyl.

Ideally you should change the stylus (needle) every 6 months
I would say. But they last a lot longer than that usually.

They tend to sound distorted / skip easily...when worn out

about the weight. that thing you can turn (sheesh...) has
marks from 0 to 3. but everything is kinda loose (and always
was like that) so the indication might be totally wrong
now.

screw until it is just out of balance going to the record
side ?
i've always done a bit more, but i'm worried i might wear
out my records faster.

man, i sound stupid in my bad english.

That makes sense and you're correct. Some people prefer it a
bit heavier though.
