My First Ever Label Rejections!!!

Oh the joys!!

1
Gav,

The tracks are very good and you clearly have talent. It is
not however
the style of track we are currently putting out on *****. If
you have
not had anything released yet then my advice is to approach
labels that
sound the same as your output. In your case labels such as
Skam, defocus
or even fat cat spring to mind. It is much easier to get
released once
you get something out and get a bit more exposure, contacts
etc. Hope
this helps, it's not easy getting stuff released even if
you're a good
producer. Just persevere.

All the best

Hi Gav

Afraid it ain't the style of music I'm working with! but
very nice
especially name your children get the right sort of vocalist
with that style
and you'll be on to a winner!
Best of luck mate.

Regards Jim

Bollocks I say. :-)

You could be on my label. All you have to do is wait about
another 10-15 years.

thankyou. You have instilled never-before-seen confidence in
me. This is a debt that hopefully, one day I can repay you.

Yes, you are right. I email about 50 labels so I'm bracing
myself for 50 rejections at least. Some of them will
probably tell me to fuck off twice. In a nice manner of
course. :-)

naw, the bigger they are, the harsher they fall, and the
more patronising they become I think. I'm aiming for mere
tadpoles in the ocean of labels. Hopefully I can inject one
of them with my musical-lovetruncheon and a fully fledged
frog of music will appear. :)

He he, I got a rejection from them... My music was not the
direction they were looking to move in with their next
release :)

In a way, it's good getting rejections. It at least shows
people are listening to demos (rather than them just sitting
in a pile). Especially when they give advice or put you onto
a label that might be interested in you.

no, I haven't started yet. I've sent a few cd-r's to
interested people and to a couple of
internet-radio-stations.

up till now I've sent one demo to Colony, of Crunch fame.
which Mike rejected politely. :)

I'm looking into releasing something on a more 'weird'
electronic label, not so much oriented at the "IDM"-market,
more a general electronic music market, if there is such a
thing.

I do want to send out more demo's, but I really have to find
the time to basically de- and then reconstruct each and
every track.

We sent our demo to Fat Wreck Chords many years ago and we
knew that we are going to be rejected, but it was too cool
to receive letter with Fat Mike's signature .,

why do you want to de/re-construct your tracks? Are you not
happy with them?

And where is your music anyway? I've always been intrigued
to hear it.

Here's a nice link to a list of labels. I am presently
ploughing through them all.

Labels Labels

some of the tracks I'd like to send are a few years old and
are not mixed very well.

so I'd have to find all the files, load them up again, etc.

some of my music can be found here

and for your enjoyment, a nice website with even MORE labels..

At least they took the time to listen and respond.
Redardless of whether they replied with standard letters or
not. Obviously music styles don't click with everyone, you
just have to keep trying.

He he, I'm actually working on a battle wax record at the
moment. Mr. Brown will be buying a final scratch in the near
future as an architects office has hired him and he'll be
flush. I plan to put it together on the PC and test
extensively on that (fine tuning it as neccessary) and then,
if it's good enough, maybe have it pressed up. I'm just
making beat juggling kits and synth stabs etc. for it at the
minute. Plus, I need to get high quality "virgin" versions
of the traditional, "Aaaah", "Fresh", "Scratch", etc.
samples.

I.. can't stop reading: "My first ever label erection"

same as I thought "Earthleakage" was called "earthakleage"
(which isn't a word, but it made more sense), and
"ecnadniarb," i thought was "ecnadnibarb" (which makes it
Brabindance backwards).
