pi has a truly sick soundtrack - yet to see the movie tho

phobes, i noticed that that you didn't include the pi
s/track in the 'appearances' section of the discography. as
i remeber, 'bucephalus bouncing ball' appeared on it

Yes, I know...I'm currently working on the
REMIXES/APPEARENCES/COLLABORATION-sections and adding pieces
every now and then...

Thanks!

I remember seeing the Soundtrack cd to Pi in town and saying
to myself, Damn this has got some good music on it, I bet
the film is cool, but I bet it isnt out or its too obscure
to find, but sure enough I found it at the video shop a day
or two later, watched it and had to buy it straight away; It
was the first thing with Aphex Twin and Autechre Id ever
got, now Im a big Aphex Twin fan : )

hexane on 2001-02-27 12:01 [#00000574]

well...i''m glad that story had a happy ending. what's this
stuff i'm hearing that in the film a guy drills himself????

The Pi-info has been added to the EXPLORE-section
now...under Appearances.

Glitch- I was suprised to find Pi at the video store. Awsome
movie, alittle weird though. If you haven't seen the movie
don't read on...

Does he really drill into his head, or is it like a vision
or metaphor? And what was that thing on his head? I can't
remember they even say what it is.

hexane on 2001-03-03 15:07 [#00000706]

damint, tonight i went to 2 videostores im a member at

Pi was on C4 a while ago...pretty ace film -- i like the
repeating sections -- very arty!

i didn't properly get the end...so he's getting rid of the
number so people will stop hassling him, but i dunno if it's
supposed to be real or symbolic..

I bought Pi before Requiem came out and it was only $10 at
BestBuy. And I think Requiem was only $15, but I got that at
Barnes & Noble.

Good soundtrack/score on both those movies.

Actually, the music in Requiem playing towards the beginning
when they're walking down the street with the TV reminds me
of Squarepusher's U.F.O.'s Over Leytonstone.

hannibal:

when his mathematician friend dies - he leaves the 216-digit
number on the table of that game they played together.

he was always tryign to get across to max that when you
become over-concerned with somethign it becomes the biggest
thing in your life an it's all you can see -- it surrounds
you and you will not be able to recognize it.

so max gets rid of the number, both on the piece of paper
and in his head knowing that he knew the number the entire
time - he just couldnt realize it because he was so
concerned about it - it became everything in his life and he
couldn't recognize it anywhere.

No, Requiem isn't grainy or B&W like Pi, but it still
convey's a sense of bleakness. For Requiem, they just did a
score (by Clint Mansell and the Kronos Quartet), not really
a soundtrack. But it's pretty good.

Requiem For A Dream is awesome.

I attended it at a film festival with Aronofsky and the
producer. Very normal guys, but one amazing fucking film.
Very powerful and honest.

Prolly would make my top ten list.

He's my hero.

As i've said many times before, both excellent films :)

Yeah, he did Q&A for about 40min after the film. My roomy
and I were too breathless to ask anything, nor did we want
to sound like dumbasses.

He was super down to earth too, seemed like a pretty cool
guy.
