Just bought this today for the bargain price of £19.99 ...
It has the original version AND the director's cut version
of Alien! :D Also features an introduction by Ridley Scott,
featurettes and audio commentary, the first draft of the
original screenplay, and documentaries! Looking forward to
watching it, which I'm about to do now! :D

ThE thing is, in Aliens, the 57 years later bit actually
occurs in Ripley's DREAM ... I don't believe anywhere else
in the film it says it is 57 years later!

Well, I already had AlienSE, and it was Buy One Get One
Free, so I would've had to either NOT get a Free DVD, or get
one I already had! And I only went out to look at the
hookers.

the Bob Burns Aliens collection is an interview with Bob
Burns, the guy who keeps hold of pretty much every single
Alien (and all other sequels) film props

he has built a massive museum type thing in his back yard to
show it all off, it's brilliant

i wish i could have some of the stuff he's got :(

while that is true, later on (in the special edition) when
burke and her talk in front of the fake nature screen they
say how old her daughter was when she died and how long ago
she died, and how old she was when ripley initially left,
and the math works out. so even though it was a dream, that
aspect was still fact.

you are correct mate

thank you for making that clear to anyone who disbelieves
the fact that Aliens is set 57 years after Alien

:)

it's a lot of macho stuff centering around adoration of army
culture?

I mean, I don't mind it that much, but I can see how someone
could get annoyed by that.

the best one. I even prefer Alien 3 to Aliens now.

alien 3 is underrated. i think it has a cooler atmosphere
than 2. it's just weird in its own right, even without an
alien running around killing people. its too bad cgi was so
terrible back then. its not scary enough. the first film is
absolutely the best...

alien: the like of which ain't made any more.. fantasic
- story is superb
- script is excellent
- FX are timeless

aliens: perfect sequel....i.e totally different to first but
continues the story flawlessly
- my fave most quoted script ever
- i absolutely love Gormans character...he's so
underrated

- "ok... listen up!"
- "now move it people!"
- "Ripley, what the hell are you doing?!!"

Apone is fucking great
- "Hudson..come here. COME HERE!"
- "Nobody touch nothin"
- his shift from badass drill sergant to confused squad
leader is brilliant

I could go on and on.....

Alien cubed:
- Nice style, story not bad, script is totally crap
though
- Bishop at the end was a nice idea but not pulled off
amazingly well

alien 4: directors commentary - 30 mins into it, by
Sigourney Weaver

"and this is where the film turns to utter utter shit and we
ruin the entire fucking life-cycle idea cos i get too
controlly. I apologise to all fans and I hope 'Aliens Vs
predator' will make up for it but i doubt it"

My last word: Story plus script equals good movie.. not fx,
budget, etc... we have our brains for that.
