Plaid played Dublin

Excellent night of electro and electronica.

Warming up the crowd with his electro DJ skills was Decal.
To get a taste of the kind of stuff he was playing, it
wasn't totally disimilar to the mp3 mixes found
here - under mp3's.... the "other" mixes section

It was my first saturday night out in Dublins now smoke-free
clubbing scene and it was rather pleasant except that you
noticed farts and B.O. a lot more! I had a toke outside and
joined the new phenonomen in Ireland - gangs of people
hanging around the front of pubs/clubs/resteraunts smoking
and chatting - folks who probably wouldn't normally
associate with each other.

So i went back in and Plaid were now sitting at their
consoles with their trade-mark knob-scope giving a ant-sized
Warpbots point of view of their hands firtively turning
controls. I ain't that familiar with Plaid tracknames or
anything but they played a blinding set of blissed-out warm
melody driven tunes. I defo recognised "double-figures"
Squance and other recent material and it was all accompanied
by some really amazing and varied visuals. 2 in particular
stood out - the first an homage to old arcade games with
cutouts of 80's pop icons intermingled with pacmen and
bricky technocoloured spaceships. The other one was still
pencil-drawings of a kind of neo-gothic near future world of
wierd cityscapes and flying cars that panned genlty across
your vision. It really suited Plaids gentle but building
synthline and phat bassiness.

Brilliant.

sounds nice...tho im not that big fan of plaid. actually
they're coming to play in my hometown in about a month, not
sure if im going to go...

nacmat, it seems to me that only london is a better place tp
dublin, regarding gigs, but madrid is not that bad
either...often when i check for tours/gigs for different
artists, i see they're playing in madrid as well. but i
think the promotion for this gigs is shitty everywhere, so
the best way is to check on some domestic electronic message
board - i get a lot information for this gigs on this
particulat site - promotors are posting there as well, so i
get all the information from the first hand.

well, the thing is i find their music a little boring...i
was supposed to see that six months ago at some festival,
but then there was this problem when power went out, so they
cancelled some acts (plaid including) and i didin't really
mind that heh, actually it was so exausting i was kind of
pleased the cancelled plaid :)
but yeah, i'll still probably go to this one...

I have seen a lot of good acts in my live, but Plaid is on
top of my list, although it depends on the location where
they play.
their visuals are the best and you can feel the music, well
atleast I could when they played in Amsterdam.

even 2 people who came with me that never heard of Plaid
before had a great time!! one of them wanted to buy a record
of them (and she's normally into hard-rock)

it's up to you, but keep in mind that you will feel sorry if
you won't go ;)

i like the extremes when it comes to live acts...either
hardcore stuff or very chiled stuff. plaid are something
inbetween, but hey, it's only like an hour or so and i can
always leave if it would be too bad 8-)

it's some spring festival of electronic music, and i think
they'll play outside, which should be a new experience :)
