I was just interested to see what everyone's favorite
collection of audio manipulation and creation applications
where....after using multiple platforms, I have used a fair
bit of apps, and here is my shortlist (albeit a
non-exhaustive one!)

oh btw, these aren't in any particular order, they're just
being typed as I think

Reason 2.5
Peak 4.11
ReCycle 2.1
Live 3.0.2
Sound Studio
Sound Forge 6
Cool Edit 2000
WaveLab 3
ReBirth 2.0
Cubase VST/32 (i think it was version 6 we used in college)
Coagula Light

The ones I use most often are Reason, Peak, and ReCycle. I
have Cubase SX 1.06 on my machine, but I'm not that
impressed with it - I guess it's because I'm too used to the
look and feel of Cubase VST/32.

If anyone has any recommendations on stuff I'd be eager to
try out some new software. As long as it will run on Mac OS
X or a 500MHz Pentium II (the specs for Virtual PC) i'll be
very appreciative.

Buzz rules!
I use Buzz... although I feel a bit limited to it, there
arent't much limits.
It rules, and is free.

my main sequencer is cubase sx

occasionaly i use reason. sometimes i'll start with
something in reason, like a synth melody and import the
waves of that into cubase and continue from there.

for cutting up loops (usually beats) i use the brilliant
phatmatik pro vst.

i use various soft synths like v-station, excition,
discovery to name a few.

i use sound forge alot for audio editing and sometimes
recycle

offline AlbertoBalsalm from Reykjavík (Iceland) on 2004-04-04 18:34 [#01132328]

the sequencer in reason sucks compared to the sequencer in
cubase. programming beats is alot easier

I don't normally use FL (I can't make anything but techno in
it... plus it's hard to sequence when I can't see
waveforms...)

built-in wave editor? is that the upgrade?

dirqual-302 (my pseudo bassline synth i made with reaktor)

my main tool is renoise but i'm taking a break from it
now..
i recently started converting my really old
hardware-experimental tracks to mp3, and i fell in love with
that sound again..
taking up some of my old circuit bending projects right
now..
plus creating reaktor instruments..

finished version one of my killer
drum machine Quincy-1 yesterday.
its got the synthezised drum sounds
from "quirky choons" in it, and has
3 individual mad fx-racks for each line.

I've done a synth called "sonorous" in Reaktor. V. simple,
but great for metallic/industrial type noises.
