Even though I am not experienced with making music, I happen
to know FL sucks.

FL is great. It's the only low-latency host that can load
VSTi synths. It's also the only host that has a patented
Piano Roll (tm) sequencer interface. Also, you can get
versions for PC, Mac, Unix and Palm Pilot.

Cubase is okay but it's only for Amiga, you can only have
four tracks and one of them is always Yanni.

this is because the Piano Roll (tm) sequencer interface is
patented.

The patented(tm) Piano Roll(tm) interface is a trademark(c)
of Piano Roll Industries(omg)

i think people dont like fruitloops because of the the way
its presented as a 'trance' making program. I think its very
good, simple and powerfull.

I don't like using it.

and it's so urgly.

um..

It's an inexpensive and very flexible host / sequencer for
VST and DXI synths and effects. If you avoid most of the
included instruments and effects - and ALL of the samples -
and just use your own stuff, you can do some good things
with it.

I LOVE the automation - you can link just about any FL
control to a midi controller knob, and the latest revision
makes it dead simple to do that to any VSTi also.

Hint for FL users: export your mixdown in 32 bit float
(standard format) with linear interpolation, and master it
in something else like sound forge or wavelab. The more
computationally intensive rendering schemes - even 6 point
hermite - change the sound of your mix. They don't actually
make it "higher quality" unless you're using the FL Studio
sampling instruments, particularly with low quality samples.
If you're using your own high quality VSTis, stick with
linear.

I don't like using it because...... the sound quality is
dull......... it's useless when recording live midi........
all the bundled plugs are basic & fairly crap...... I cannot
make complete tracks inside a glorified drum machine as it's
not got a quick flowing workrate which is essential.

It does a good job on beats & the automation does give it
added depth but it's still a glorified drum machine at the
end of the day

THIS POST IS NOT AIMED AT ANYONE SO PLEASE DO NOT TAKE
OFFENCE, THANKYOU 8)
