37.1
A number close to my heart, as you might guess.

If it's REAL it's going to be 73 or 81 otherwise it's a fix.

I will stubbornly and relentlessly stick with 37.1 past even
the point at which I'm obviously wrong!
Of course it could be 16 which is fair play to mr cygnus.
But then, as you say, it would be a fix :)

Happy april fool's! Let me have some fun picking an
eventually boring number.. my number is the sum of the
alternatingly positive/negative squares of [1..10] (10^2 -
9^2 + 8^2 .. -1^2).

cute way to solve is pairwise reduction.. 10 and 9 are (n+1)
and n, and (n+1)^2 - n^2 = 2n+1; so the solution is the sum
where i goes from 1 to 9 (skipping evens) of 2i+1.

[1..9] skipping evens is 2i-1 with i going [1..5], so
substitute and the formula becomes 4i-1 with i [1..5], which
is 2(5)(6) - 5 (sum of number [1..n] is (n)(n+1)/2; the 1
and 2 can be extracted to use this formula), so

my number is 55

it's april 1st and I'm the fool!

oy that should have said "the 1 and the _4_ can be extracted
.." .. glad I criticized myself at the end of it
