I have seen a couple of good episodes, but I haven't seen
them all. Also that Sarah Michelle Buffy is quite sexy I
think.

i must say it can certainly be pretty good...

the later series become increasingly better - much funnier,
in an intelligent way, making fun of the series and it's
conventions.

What I wanted to say was, I ordered seasons 4+5 off of
amazon.com and am entitled to give "a friend" an additional
discount of 10%. Btw. they're already quite cheap. I
discovered a promotional sale on play.com and went to
compare prices with amazon which turned out to be a hell of
a lot cheaper than play.com even. 40$ each is quite a nice
price in my book.
Anyone interested in the seasons can get my 10% on top of
it.
let me know.

so i started with watching season 4, almost done with 6 now,
because you said: "the first three seasons really arent that
good"

why do you like it? i wanted to know. i think it's wonderful
too
season 6 is really sad though

I used to love the show... but then it got too silly, with
Buffy and Spike dating? Come on... I used to like it most
when they had one single bad guy last for a bunch of
episodes... like the master or whatever he was in the first
season, and spike in the second, etc... and that mayor
guy... but then it almost seemed to be a new bad guy was
killed every episode, and I just lost interest...

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2004-08-21 10:57 [#01310853]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

hmmm, you guys like the later seasons more? Well I think I
list interest half way in, so I probably haven't seen
those... but I loved the first few seaons...

yeah, you said that in another thread i read :)
but::
season 4: big bad guy: adam
season 5: big bad girl: glory
season 6: big bad boys: nerds
glory terrified me
so buffy breaks up with spike somewhere and they do closeup
of their faces and you can see they're not too good actors
season 6 i thought a bit weak altogether
favorite tv charactere ever: willow
i love her. also i buy this witching stuff better than the
vampires

Quite amusing too!

the writing is clever, the show makes fun of clichées of
the genre and it makes fun of the show itself.

it can genuinely make me laugh, which is always a good
sign.

the show generally picked up after they left highschool -
the tone gets more mature, the stories darker and more
morbid.

one of the best storylines was Willow's addiction to magic
and then crossing to the dark side.

Yeah, it starts in a bit in season 5 but steps up in season
6.

I think one of the best episodes they did was the one where
buffys mum dies. I though that was incredibly well done.

Don't you think?

overall my least favorite charactere is buffy
so my favs ranking from tops to bottoms, of the regular
cast, from what ive seen:
willow
then spike, though that's a bit fading for me now
i guess i like xander, anya, giles equally
then dawn (and oz)
buffy
tara was never regular i guess, she's just sweet because
she's with willow
i feel like a teenager
riley i thought was a pretty good tragic charactere, though
i thought for a bit that he was turning himself into a
vampire, which would have been even more tragic
i think willow crying looks awesome

you mean season 5? that's where mum dies. it might be the
best season imo, so far

qrter: i only care that much that it was i thought about

oh, right: i hate angel

qrter: i only care that much that it was something i thought
about

the mum dying episode i saw a bit about in the special
features, for instance there's no music and let scenes go on
instead of cutting away early, so to less comfort the
viewer, show the harsh reality. it was a splendid episode. i
was a bit freaked out (pulling an all nighter of these scary
episodes (i also liked the one where mum goes mad with the
ceiling climbing alien)) because i thought it was some damn
spell by the bad guy. but it wasnt. kind of the point too i
guess: people die

From experience i thought that was episode was very
realistic. The silence thing goes along way with no music
and the very long pauses when you are trying to think of
something to say.

It really worked.

the scene where the friends are together and they are
frustrated because they cant do anything, xander hits
through a wall
and anya comes off stupid because she doesnt know how to
behave, because she doesnt understand, that was very
touching
*blinks*
anya is played by a pretty okay actress i think
also they cut to that scene pretty special with camera works

you could call me a fan, fav episode is when they made it
appear that all that has been going on is inside of buffy's
head, she wakes up in an institution, it f'ed with the
suspension of disbelief factor, very good.

speaking about which: i thought for a bit harmony was a diss

the other hand i understand the buffy charactere started out
as a cheerleader, so maybe it's just an highschool aspect
