SHADOWHUNTAZ

offline cutups from Pittsburgh (United States) on 2004-03-30 08:46 [#01124911]
Points: 257 Status: Regular

the thing with "idm" and "hiphop" is that they
are that have gotten really broad
and have borrowed and mutated from each
others terrain so much.

so if you listen to most top 40 hiphop instrumentals
they could have been easily considered "idm"
of a few years ago (or now?). on the flip,
alot of "idm" has beats that people could definitely
flow over.

general recommends
prefuse73
dabrye
machinedrum
dalek
funkstorung
beans
antipop consortium
botanica del jibaro label (cyne, manuvers, evolver)
merck label (aphilas, decepticon,
mush label (coulddead, jel, bus + busdriver, boombip)
anticon (alias, odd nosdam)

i'll second the shadowhuntaz.
also a bit of stuff on dub label, neo ouija, delicatessen,
music aus strom, etc has potential to fit in.

a lot of people might disagree with me, but i think what
timbaland does is very very cool, i particularly like the
Aaliyah self titled album he worked on, its amazing, she was
amazing... and the missy elliot stuff of course

whoa holy shit, i can't believe i didn't mention dabrye...
dabrye rules, thank goodness someone is on top of things...

and i definitely agree with you Teapot, Timbaland is
great... when he wants to be... i have the album he just did
with magoo, and 2/3 of the tracks are sweet, but the other
1/3 is lame... easily one of the best producers in popular
hip hop (and hip hop in general), his attention to textures,
as well as rhythmic intricacy make him very easy to enjoy...
