ye.

the new long-awaited old-school hip-hop eighties-track (with
several hyphens in the name) is online. we were sitting in
the studio / livingroom.. then suddenly, the eighties hit
us. this track is no-eq, no-pan, flat, snare w/ reverb
eighties-style.

stream

download.

aw, come on, people.

I even "rap." on it (me = the guy who is trying to take the
girl.. I say something about the other guys hair being full
of piss (although the original lyrics said "this guy here is
full of piss.")

Well, that was an interesting experience! teehee ... You
certainly have a distinctive rapping style, dM, and who is
the girl in it? The only technical thing I noted was this:
"2nd time lead guitar sound -- more reverb, less treble EQ"
That lead guitar sound intrudes too much after its first
showing. Apart that, you certainly captured the era :D

thanks for listening.

yeah, my flow is unbeatable (or maybe it is...). The girl is
a friend of ours.. she is incredibly good at singing, and
she has taken singing-lessons as well... she also plays
cello, but not on this track.

I'll try to "dampen" the guitar the second time...

(what did you think about the ending? the synth/guitar-duo?!
hahah!)

Oh yeah :D Well, I liked the synth (sounding like a
saxophone-pad setting of some sort!) - the guitar work was a
little uninspired ;) But I liked the guitar at the very end
- that fasssst bit :D

Nice... A new mic seems like a wise investment, I think I
heard some clipping-like noises on the vocal there...

no.. not clipping... "chopping." the mic creates small
clicks when we record voices.

have you tried a pop filter? get yer momma's old pantyhose
and a clothes-hanger made of steel wire, and make something
that looks like this. it cuts out air-heavy sounds
like p's.

I've done that and it works great but I need a new mic and
so does the Mastah apparently...

i have an old tandberg mic that i bought at some fretex
store for 30kroner, and it popped like mothertrucker, so i
made me a filter. now it doesn't pop, but sound shite
nontheless. good for lo-fi stuff though. planning on
investing in a better mic soon.

ehm.. compare it to a cross-over between Run-DMC and Afrika
Bambaataa, and you'll see that it's really hip-hop.
