Full-Souce - The Nothing

Full-Source: The Nothing. April 5th 2004.

Full-Source, formed in 1998, is the main solo project of Tim
Dwyer. Beginning with sample based collage and midi music,
Full-Source evolved sonically over 5 years to the ambient /
electronic / rock / techno soundscapes that it is today.
Tim hasn't any traditional musical background and is self
taught on piano. From 2000 to 2001, much experimentation in
sound and music resulted in a few failed attempts at
creating a cohesive album. In 2002, Full-Source finally
released a debt self titled album of ambient techno tracks.
A remastered version of the album was re-released in 2003.
Also in 2003, the "A World to Enjoy EP" was released prior
to the second album, "The Nothing". Full-Source has also
done countless remixes, worked on sound tracks for various
animations, and collaborated with music acts such as
Misterbuster, Sisk and Second Thought.

The sound of the new Full-Source album, "The Nothing" has
evolved greatly, compared to the first album. Many of the
tracks still have an ambient atmosphere but now contain
vocals, guitar textures, and piano. "The Nothing" is a theme
based album. The Nothing refers to the growing hole inside
of you: you try to fill this hole by taking comfort in other
people and in the past, all the while remaining afraid yet
hopeful of the future. Unfortunately, various hurdles, not
in your favour leave The Nothing as this impossible object
to destroy. Lost and alone. Wishing, wanting and missing
what The Nothing blinds you from, may The Nothing be nothing
more.

10 albums that inspired "The Nothing"

Aphex Twin - Drukqs
DJ Shadow - Private Press
Dot Allison - We Are Science
Eels - Electro-Shock Blues
Future Sound of London - ISDN
Octopus Project - Identification Parade
Radiohead - Kid A
Rob Dougan - Furious Angels
Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
The Faint - Danse Macabre

it'd be neater if albums didn't inspire people, but actual
events, smells, memories... i think i'd have more respect
for them.

The future brings both re-hashed and new. Following "The
Nothing", the future of Full-Source is as always an
uncertain path. In the works are an ambient album under the
name The X:F System, a full-source DJ mix, and a third
Full-Source album. The third album is set to be a dark
ambient progtronic record.

Note from the label boss (moi):
I first discovered Full-Source online as he was completing
his very first songs. As Tim looks back at them as poor
demos, it’s understandable to see why, but at the time I
was very impressed. Probably because they were light years
ahead of what I was making at the same time.
I think I’m there again. The Nothing is a true masterpiece
of a record, and one I’m happy to have followed from its
first stages of creation, going on for two years ago. For
those who are only familiar with Tim’s previous
self-titled mp3 album, this will probably be quite an
unusual and unexpected disc.

'The Nothing' is the lyrical mood of the album, but possibly
not the obvious musical mood. In this disc you’ll find
electro, electroclash and mangled techno beats mixed with
ambience and atmosphere: to put it simply, it’s unique.

Full-Source’s proper full-length debut is strictly limited
to a hundred copies.

Mmm. I always have trouble finding inspirational 'records'
to put down, my music's always inspired by places and ideas.
This is just what Tim's said about his own music. ;)
