An ambient peice under my new name Xifeye.

It is called The Cycle Stops, and is the sad story (without
words) of a computers death.

It is here

Thank you.

I'll be honest i cannot listen and enjoy tracks like this,
but it does fit the story of the computers death.

I have 5 of your tracks, they dont really do much for me,
far too random for my liking although i did enjoy 'said i'm
gonna'

Random? Most of my stuff has been criticised as being too
looped based? You must have just downloaded a weird set of
tracks :D

Fuck, I uploaded the wrong one anyway. You won't like the
proper one either though :P Thanks for listening anyway.

Yeah i agree with being too loopbased, when i said random i
meant the fact that it is mostly just noise i hear. Nothin
that makes me wanna listen to it fully without
fastforwardin.

I respect the time it takes for you to assemble your tracks,
but noises dont make it a good track

if i had made this track i would've changed the title

"You feel like a foreign object to me"

also i'd focus more on minor chords than just dissonance

Much appreciated Mr Nigel. I am not a musician...I don't
know about chords and stuff yet. I will start looking into
all that shit now because I am quite happy with being able
to produce the sounds I want. I have been making music for
a year now...but I have been lazy a lot of that time which
is why I still don't know about all that chord shit and
that.

offline rudster from the glasgow on 2004-03-25 21:16 [#01119781]

Thats a fair point ecnad, i didnt realise you didnt know
about chord structuring.

The outcome of which is shown in your music, i like that.

Ive played guitar for about 8 years now, and alot of my
music is influenced from what i have learned through writing
music on my guitar.

But to write music with no musical (instrument) background.
I totally respect. The outcome of which usually sparks
originality.

Sorry i'm babbling, im currently in process of writinf 5000
word essay to be handed in, in approx 6hours, its 4am just
now and im 3/4 finished. I need to write this to take my
mind off the other shit im writing

listening to breakbeat stuff in various forms (breakbeat
rave stuff, hiphop and drum and bass before this so called
'IDM' nonsense).

Good luck with the essay :D

'Locust' was the first thing that came to mind. I quite like
this definitely more interesting than some of your other
recent stuff. Can't see why people were so hard on this
track myself. This has a certain quality to it - not bad.
You must have done this late at night or something. I'm
probably in an open enough mood but I quite enjoyed it. The
track seems to work nicely as it.

this track actually has a bit of a computer game ambient
background kinda sound to it, it actually reminded me of one
of the tracks Trent Reznor did for the Quake soundtrack....

i really like that chirruping, grating deep sound.....like
that a lot

if i did a remix of this, i'd stick some big massive drums
in there, you know, just here and there, nothing that's
cohesive like a bar of drums, just some hits here and there
to accentuate certain points of the track

but i quite like this

nice one mate :)

Much appreciated chaps :D

To be fair to rudster if I had downloaded the version he
downloaded I wouldn't have had anything good to say about
it. What happened was that I had a ringmodulator on it
which originally was automated...when I did the original
mixdown it switched back on without the automation and ran
for the whole track, it sounded a mess.

hehe promo you are right, the track was produced late at
night in a silent envionment and I had the subwoofer on
while making it (which I normally don't do) and it sounds
quite growly and sinister through that...maybe it sounds a
little flat through other speaker types? A fair comment.

I like how during the beginning that while that metallic
oddness sounds like it is living and breathing that you have
what sounds to me like out of tune strings that eventually
build up and fade off.

Imagine different moods and feelings of an individual during
songs. This song sound like someone is out of options, lost
hope and has a deep emptyness that is driving them mad. A
song that would accompany a character's breakdown and would
lead into another scene where something drastic would
happen.

I'd be interested in doing a remix or a version of this.

Very well done track. It had my imagination going!

same here, but my attempt would probably be shit! lol

i derfinately agree with you about the mood of this track -
are we getting some insight into ecnadniarb's feelings at
the moment?

could we see The Downward Spiral album, by ecnadniarb?

if he did an album concept like that, following this track
that'd be the bomb!

ecnadniarb, if this track is the evisceration of your
feelings, i really am sorry and i hope things get better for
you - i kinda felt how this track feels a while back, but
things got better for me, even though i thought they
wouldn't

Interesting... I like the swells and when parts enter and
exit. Not too heavy on the panning, neat stuff.

The overall feel is nice, maybe even making it a bit less
complex, some longer portions with just the background pads
and sparse noise accompaniment would be my only suggestion.
I'm not feeling a lot of structure in the piece, but I
assume that's what you were going for.

Gives off a good industrial video game vibe.

Good piece. I think this is about at the point where you
need to nitpick and focus on the small details to make it
get up to the next level. Some of the parts actually would
be more powerful if it was more repetitive and cleaned up.
Think using the BEST loop you have and making it repeat. It
gets in the brain and leaves too quickly. Hope that helps!

i just couldn't get into the track, no connection. i don't
mind repetition, but i just couldn't connect with what was
repeating. i guess my reaction is not really negative, so
much as neutral. this has been the...

plaidzebra minority report. in the words of y wen kuo,
"keep on."

Well i liked it, i liked the sounds you used to put it
together and the atmosphere it created.

I would like to see however a few more sounds come in and
dissapear really quickly and a few electric shock type bits
of sound, i think that could make it better.

: )

But i liked it!

Gets a bit boring after two minutes, needs to find a
direction and at least head in the general direction of it
;) Some muffled thumps 60% pan-right with a hint of reverb
would be nice--something to add to the tension -- you
created some tension to begin with, but it soon became
assimilated and lots its suspense -- build on the suspense,
and, maybe, take it to a conclusion - that's my advice,
which is worth at least nothing.

-)
