did anyone get this game? it's fucking excellent. it's
quite possibly the most violent game i've played. ninja
gaiden has more gushing, but in this game every shot you
land in an enemy splatters you with blood. in 1st person
mode you see your weapons get drenched, and in third person
mode you see the whole character soaked.

as for the horror part of the game, it's all based on
startling. it's got the creepy atmosphere thing going from
silent hill, but almost all the times it made me jump were
monsters crashing through windows, walls, or hallucinations
from your character that just come out of nowhere at the
least expected moment and have loud piercing noises. those
get really annoying after a while, they come up alot when
you haven't killed any monsters for a while, it's got that
whole 'bloodlust or death' theme to it.

i'm about 3 hours into it so i pretty much know nothing
about the storyline, but from what i've seen it's pretty
damn fucked up.

so far i give it a 7/10 because the gameplay is good,
extremely gory, fun when you're killing things, but way too
heavy on the 'all of a sudden out of nowhere' scare tactics.

It's pretty good, but really monotonous. The game is
loooooonnnnnng... you've got a long road ahead of you, but
you've pretty much seen and done and killed everything
already. But some of the locales are really interesting,
it's a great world and well worth playing to the end. I
loved that abandoned asylum.

I like the atmosphere, it's suffocating. Finding out about
the history of the island is fun, those archives that you
unlock are pretty interesting. I also like the moral
angle... I got the good ending the first time, I saved lives
and was a goody goody, but now I want to go back and kill
everyone, be a badass, get the bad ending.

The game is buggy as hell, though! I fell through a hill
into a limbo that consisted of clouds and pink stuff at one
point. I'm pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen... and
I also get stuck on railings and chairs a lot.

yeah i notice inconsistencies in the speed of the right
stick (for looking). that bothers me. other than that,
it's pretty sweet.
