isn't it funny how they do that?

just up and decides that its not gonna play sound.

of course, im clueless about how to get it to work.

so i cant work on music, and probably have to take it BACK
in (which is nice considering i just got it back a week ago)
and have some dude turn a screw or something and get charged
50 bucks for it.

RGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

so i guess my ep is on hold again, unless it decides to work
of its own free will.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GAH UGH
BLAGGAFLABBAFLANKINDANGTANKER!!!!!

ok, i feel calm

time....

im putting a computer together for my sister...it took me a
week to find out what was wrong with hd, cuz the bios
wouldn't recognize it...so instead of spending half hour on
it, it took me like 5 hours...at least it's working now so
im HAPPY

i hope it works out for you as well!

as long as you don't even know what kind of soundcard you
have exactly, there isn't a lot that can be done..

i just dont get how it could just not work one morning when
i turn the cpu on, especially since it had JUST worked the

maybe i just dont get it.

it seems like theres absolutely no reason i can think of for
a computer to work ok, you turn it off, then turn it back on
and now theres some drastic new issue.

it just escapes me.

its so unreliable.

is that what it is you think?

i thought xp was supposed to be this wonderous new thign
that solves all the issues.

this really makes me wish i was a better guitar player or
something.

i hate relying on this stuff.

Sometimes computers get very very sick. :-(

Check that your cables aren't unplugged or plugged in wrong
or chewed through by rodents. Check that the volume isn't
muted. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Open up the
computer and see if the card is seated properly in its slot.
Sometimes if you pull it out and push it back in, it works.
Failing that, try installing the card in another computer
and see if it works there, then you'll know if it's a
hardware problem.

well, the whole thing is that windows wouldnt run.

so it gave me options.

i picked "run last configured thingy"

but it told me it couldnt locate the necessary .dll or
something.
the option to pick the soundcard wasnt even in the sound
control panel.

Oh, and if you have powered speakers and they're unplugged
but still turned on, that is bad. Either set the power
button to off and use them passive, or make sure the power
adapter is plugged in.

Does Windows bitch at you when you boot, that something
failed to load? Have you checked in the device manager to
see if the sound card is disabled or summat?

Ah, I see, you've hosed your profile. Go into the device
manager, uninstall the sound card if it's there, then reboot
and it should detect the hardware and prompt you for the
driver disk. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm running
Win2K at home.

Yeah, your hardware profile. Windows can have different
hardware profiles so you can load it with different hardware
configurations...

You have the volume muted. Or the speakers are plugged into
a jar of vicks vapo-rub.

the whole set up is plugged in and everythign fine, trust
me.

the sound card is working, but no sound.

i had this problem once before, and i remember them saying
that it wasnt default set up to recognise digital speakers
or something.

i just dont know what they did or how to correct this
myself.

When in doubt, do something so obvious it could never work.
It's like a monster rings your doorbell - you close the door
and open it again to get rid of him.

i like how people love PCs and hate macs

i also like how something like sound is basically an add-on
for PCs

"it's irony, on the base level, but i like it"

sound is basically an addon for macs too, it's an addon for
all processing architectures
