i like how there is only 20-30seconds of real meaty action
on this track.

the other 95% is buildup intro and then crazy breakdown
ending.

i kinda like it that way :)

I dont.

He should have extended middle section, i think end wastes
the song

everything i like about squarepusher in one album.

I haven't really gotten to those albums yet.

Recently discovered (even though they've been on my
harddrive for a while....):

Hard Normal Daddy
Feed Me Weird Things

Too busy enjoying these to step up to those ones yet ;)

I'm with skink....These are early days, and maybe these
inital enthuiasiams will fade, but it seems like a real "I
Have Arrived" release for SQPR. We've been lucky I guess to
have been able to see him grow with each release. V. Simlar
to the way AE have matured in public...

heh...that sounds kinda emo, but you get my drift...

speaking of track 1...

who likes track number 8 - steinbolt?

probably all of you, cuz it kicks ass, and i absolutely LOVE
the pads that come in towards the middle and again in the
end.

Especially the ending breakdown, last minute, minute 1/2 or
so.

Raaaaaaa

Fuck Technical marlarky; try to forget & break the link
between music & how it's made amd these pieces make
sense/have a mood that works...

Steinbolt rocks,

simple as that.

Glad there is one beat up harsh track on this album!

offline FUK-YU from United Kingdom on 2004-03-23 14:47 [#01115133]

but thats the whole point
Jenkinson only makes these sorta tracks to show-off his
"technical marlarky".
Once an artist reverts to this,it becomes total wank.

i think mr pusher makes these sorta tracks coz he likes to
FUK-YU.

talking about wank:

MOVEMENTS IN THE
EXPERIMENTATION OF
SONIC SOUNDWAVES
THAT REFLECT THE
POINT OF LIGHT IN
VARIED
MANIFESTATIONS OF
GALAXIES/UNIVERSES
AWAY...............
FAR FAR

How-in-the-hell-do-you-know ((squarepusher)) what he is
thinking, what tracks he likes? etc?

So are you are insisting that tom put this track on this
album merely to show off what he can do?

Please... The song isn't even that "technical" - I just like
the song and the way it is, that's all.

After these years, I would give Tom a little more
credibility than just putting a song on an album just to
show something off; instead of it being a song he likes.

I think you're the one with your head up your arse....it's
only music.

mr hobbies- that little ditty is a piss take of the
pseudo-intellectualism that exists in certain quarters of
the so-called "IDM" community (read jenko's manifesto)

mr elsusive - i respect the fact you more than likley came
to this domain after seeing the come to daddy video late one
night on mtv's 120 minutes,so any thing with 1/4 break
somehow seems radical/hardcore.

Jenko is very very competative(don't ask "how do the hell do
you know"....i just do through various sources)

yeah it is only music.......someone please try and tell that
to jenko before he completley disappears up his own "butt"

damn dude, why you hatin on Jenks and Elusive????

I think Spusher was inspired by a death metal song and ran
with it. I dont think he is showing off at all, its just a
damn good song, he was showing off with come on my
selector.

btw, i made my way here after buying the come to daddy and
rdj albums :)

FUK-YU,

Way off, but good try.

I actually don't know much about creating music.

I go by instinct.

I don't try and make music (especially electronica) because
I feel it will only take away from the way I listen to
others'.

Try and deal........Assumptions are for children.

elusive

u should try to make music. i am more impressed with
artists now that i understand more about the music itself.

I'd rather not.

As shown in a thread from a few days ago, I refrain from
doing so.

The question asked in the thread was wheter or not making
your own music distances yourself from the way you listen
(indirectely: JUDGE) others' work.

I have felt this way for a while, and that is why I choose
not to make anything.

I feel it will only cause jealousy in some sort (on these
boards maybe, with other music makers???) and will change
the perception on how I listen to other amatuers.

back to the topic of the thread........

the first track is probably my fav off the album.
Not in the same league as his early work, but still nice all
the same.

back to elusives origonal point. i love the fact that the
ultravisitor track is mostly teaser and bulidup to the
relatively short "banging" element.

Toms good at this shit... teasing ya with anticipation. He
does that amazingly on "my fucking sound" : a track i could
name 20 elements of that i'd love to have seen extended into
infinity. Yet he controls the delivery just enough to make
you go...." oh i gotta hear that shit again". Thats one of
his really clever trademarks i think. Of course he gives us
plenty of songs with extended banging bits... Beep st,
psultan, angstrom etc. I, for one, totally dig the teaser
songs too....

i read a review of ultravisitor somewhere which said that
track one was a composite (ideas-wise, not literally of
course) of the themes/styles explored throughout the rest of
the album..
thats fairly true i think..
