Now I've got a few coloured vinyl releases and the novelty
has worn off, I really wish they'd stick to black. It's
arguably worth it on picture discs (although, even then it'd
be better if there was the choice between picture disc and
for a £1 less a "normal" one). Transparent vinyl looks
nice, but with my off white slipmats (which you can see
through transparent vinyl) it's the hardest thing in the
world to cue by sight.

cheaper than the limited one....

It's quite a strange release, sort of Aphexy, with weird
happy melodies and frantic beats. Quite good though,
especially track 2.

chris ochre: you record under the name ochre? if so i have
your sound system bangers 12" and like it very much,
although all the tracks were on the album you had on
mp3.com, i'm looking forward to new stuff from you (if you
are ochre of course).

btw, lower quality on coloured vinyl?? wtf, it's exactly the
same just a different colour, all they do is add a different
dye, the density of the vinyl doesn't change or anything,
that's just complete bullshit.

Ochre :: A Midsummer Nice Dream (Toytronic, CD)

"...One of the album's real strengths is the layered
and memorable melodies of many of the tracks, perhaps
unsurprising given Ochre's previous web-released
homages to old console and computer game themes
where melody was pretty much all you had..."

nice thaxfa, i really like colored vinyl
i have a few peieces and none of them have anyrpbolems for
me, yeah black is "supposed" to be better playing

but one megadeth blue 12" , w/a reznor remix of "sweating
bullets" has a scratch, also plays from inside to the
outside

i think this all comes up because back in the day when Warp
was doing limited colored pressings for the AI series of
records, the colored vinyls didn't sound as good as the
normal black ones and there was a bit of mention that the
brown SAW II didn't sound as good either (on old web pages
this used to be posted)

now i don't know if that actually means that colored vinyl
sounds shit or that those particular colored pressings (when
Warp had a little less experience w/ such things) just
happened to sound crappy and have nothing to do w/ it being
colored. maybe colored is shit - i'm not sure but i don't
seen to have any sound problems w/ my clear SoSW.

w/ Kylian, i'm not sure if i like this record or not. i
threw it back on right now, but the first time i listened to
it, i really didn't feel the need to listen again. seem to
remember the remix track being the good one, but we'll see.

i do really want to hear the Ochre stuff soon though.
