Lost in Translation

just watched it... thought it was pretty mediocre really...
it was ok, and almost interesting... Bill Murray was nothing
special either imo...

shrug... this board seems pretty pro-"Lost in Translation",
so I guess the attacks shall come!!

way over hyped for me, mostly thanks to this board. i
thought it was pretty good, but not close to being a
masterpiece.

i just watched this today, too.
it was nice. i wouldn't say it was disappointing..
it wasn't quite what i had expected, but that's good.
i enjoyed the sort of dreary feel it seemed to have.
it seemed to rely heavily on differences in cultures for its
humour, but even then, it wasn't exactly "ha-ha" funny..
though that "suckin' on my titties like you wantin' me,
callin' me all the time" song was pretty hilarious.
anyone know the singer of that song so i can download it and
laugh violently?

also what the hell is this pacman person talking about?
a fan of bill murray's skull?

i watched this again the other day. maybe i was high when i
first saw it but i didn't really get what all the fuss is
about the second time around. i still think murray is much
much better in rushmore.

he is better in rushmore, I agree.

the beautiful thing of LiT is that it almost has an eastern
asian dramaturgy - it is not about occurances, but more
about atmosphere.

yeah, although it was done alot better in "in the mood for
love". but, i still love something about lost in
translation, its just not as good on second viewing.

best scene: bill murray performing roxy music at that neon
style karaoke party.

also scarlett johansson is fantastic in that role.

no it wasn't me I don't think...

and I expected a comment like that from someone on this
board... congratulations man...

I can appreciate movies like LiT... in fact, I rented it
yesterday cause I figured I would really like it based on
what I've heard about the story and stuff... but it just
didn't do it for me... shrug... if you think that makes me
stupid, or a dumbass or something, screw you!

"if you think that makes me
stupid, or a dumbass or something, screw you! "

hey not at all, we don't all like the same films.

"Torque looks amazing, its got rap music in it, bikes and
its by the makers of that amazing film fast and the
furious"

that would make you a dumbass :)

I also don't think that the whisperr at the end was
unneeded. I don't think it was a Just attempt at crreating
some kind of mysterry. It just allows the ending not to be
tied down. I think it's perrfect.

it's not going to be for everyone. but something about it

It's a bit of an arty farty film if you know what I mean

It's not one that instantly grabs you but still one you
enjoy and appreciate

I can totaly understand how some people walked out when we
went to see it cause it is quite slow

I still enjoyed it though, but it dosent deserve a place in
the top 10

Yes, that's possibly trrue, it does stand out. But if you
werre to keep the film exactly as it is only rremove the
whisperr it would change the whole thing forr me and kinda
rruin it, too.

I liked 'City Girl' although I can only understand about 50%
of the lyrics, it's a good job his voice fits the mood of
the song so well that it all weighs up nicely.

nowhere near as good, but still very good. That seems to be
the general thing here, great at first time not so great
second time.
