i'm not really sure what you call it...its like when you have something that sounds like a shitty atari video game sound that morphs upto a high quality sound...i heard it on go plastic, can't remember the track....either way. anyone have a clue what i'm talking about? And tips on how to achieve it in real time?

you can program it somehow. Get a nice high quality sound, then keep filtering it until it sounds shitty 8-bit style. Then record yourself slowly turning off the FX and you'll have an 8-bit sound turn into a lush one.
