a strange track (clarinets and recorders galore)

i finished a new experimental track, locatedhere,
called squelched superiority which is inspired by the weird
interference sounds my computer makes.. some aborigine-type
music, rodent vocalisations, etc.. i mashed together a bunch
of unfinished stuff, basically. it also has a vocal sample
of shaquille "Shaq" oneal.. saying "Get your vote on"..
though i doubt that anyone could find it in the chaos.
if anyone is interested, give it a listen and/or tell me
what you think of it.

oh, I like it, it?s weird and chaotic... Lot?s of "space"
and I like the "width" with a lot of stuff going at the
right & left sides, sounds great with my headphones.

...at 2:18 there?s almost a groove starting, If I were
making the track I would have got stuck in the groove and
ended up with a conventional track... I?ve tried to do more
abstract stuff but I?m to fond of beats and basslines to
manage it yet :)

i was only able to listen to about 3/4 of it (have broadband
at work, but got pulled away from the comp and never got
back to it) but it wasn't one of my favorite tracks, there
were some moments where i really liked what was peeking
through but the static and clarinet didn't do much for me.
actually i should listen again all the way through, and i
will if this thread is still floating around on monday...

thanks for listening.
i can see how one wouldn't particularly enjoy the
woodwinds.. i don't really know how to play and i actually
had to duct-tape the reed on.. probably not a good thing to
do to my father's old french instrument.. oh well i guess..
the thing looked coroded to hell anyway..
but it was really more for squeaky-texture.

thanks again.

you should secrete and send me more samples and ephemera and
so on... you should send me a cd full of your tracks with
the original files and let me rend them into sausage, well,
vegetarian sausage. it's the spice that makes it good.
these are just my thoughts, right or wrong.

i could send you a full cd, but most of the original files
have been long deleted.

anyone else care to listen?

Parts I didn't, parts I did. It sounds a mashup of
different sounds. It actually gives me the feeling of the
hussle and bussle of a cosmopolitan cultural square. I am
stoned off me noggin though and it sounds really good.

I like that picture on your zebox page. Its very nice.

I also like this track. Very experimental (for me) but
expected (of you) :)

But its good, a combination of organic sounds and some
creepy inorganic stuff.

Reminds me of ziq83 which you should listen too if
you haven't heard it. I actually think I like this track
better than anything on that album.

Wow it's quite haunting..

but a very beautiful song. Sounds like Fourtet on acid!

I love what you do with the left and right pan in your songs

thanks for listening, guys!
i agree about the hustle and bustle-feeling aspect of it.
i haven't heard fourtet or urban myth/steve beresford.. i
will have to check them out.
thanks again.

and to anyone reading this who's reluctant to listen:
this track may contain boobies

I liked it quite a bit.

The string bit at 00:34 was nice. Like a little piece of
something, fragmented, I don't know. I like bits that float
in real quick and leave almost right away. Subtle. Very
visual as usual; always a plus for me. I really liked the
clarinets & recorders.

Pretty drab review, I know. I'm terrible at these things. I
just listen & feel. Don't do too much analyzing.

So... you said something about a 60+ track CD-R, or
something crazy like that?

thanks for listening. it was a nice review. plus, if i
remember correctly, you are on dial-up, so that more than
makes up for any drab-ness. i know how tricky and annoying
it can be to download anything given those slow
circumstances.

and yes, yes. i've finished my "album".. it is 67 tracks, a
bit under 80 minutes.. a pitiful album reviewer (me) might
call it "an unrelenting, sadistic assault on the sonic
senses, with random halfway cheerful interludes that burst
at the seams into globs of cheesy, tongue-in-cheek
naive-beat-dom and chaotic noise threshing"
it's not really something to listen through in one sitting
unless you have some kind of unidentified condition, or
are.. me.

i can send you a copy if you'd like. just email me your
mailing address, to spiderman@buffalotalks.com .. it will
still take me a week or two to straighten out my burning
software and hoard up some more 80 min cd-rs.
if you are interested, the unholiest of singly-writable
compact discs will enter your hands.. in time.

morguean: I've heard Four Tet on acid.. I now have
tinnitus.

The track was.. not my kind of music, so I'll not say
anything.

fair enough.

i liked it better the second time, my favorite moment is the
strings that poke through about 37 secs in. i have shit
headphones at work, unfortunately.

a strange new track indeed! I have no idea what this track
was about, but it was something different :) It seemed a
little bit too random for my ears to enjoy but was not
lacking in detail or depth. By 'interference sounds', do you
meant all the static and rogue signals that the speakers
pick up?

so far my favourite track by you is 'dibasic 2'.

Cheers.

I guess I'm gonna have to listen to your work on headphones.
Superficially though it didn't do much for me.
