Too many teens are using them because of the style, rather
than because of the music I think. So I stick to the
discrete ones

Most big headphones can't be driven properly by a walkman
anyways - they sound weak. I use the in-ear ones that came
with my walkman.

i'm more disturbed by the sounds that come out of my
headphones and that people hear, making them give me weird
looks...

i have a pear of huge ones too and know what ur talking
about but... looks doesnt matter, it's far worse when youre
in a crowded train and need to have a quite high volume to
hear well becouse of all the people chattin and when the
volume are too high everyone looks angry..

lol you should have see the "lady" infront of me when i
played the end of District line II on max LOL!
she turned all around and really staired all over the place
like she fought the train was having some sorta mallfunction
or something.

but anyway, we shall now care about what others dont like
>=)

honestly, if someone askes me to turn my music down nicely
ill do it without a prob, but looking mad wont get them
anywhere

Yeah, I stole a 14.99 pair of earphones, I was using the
wrong foam jackets for a while so they always fell out, but
I switched to a different shape and now it's got fucking
tight sound.

I would play my Grado headphones really loud sometimes and
since they are open-eared on the sides (compared to most
other headphones which don't leak the sound on the outside),
people would freak out on the streets.

But the chord got a loose connection so they are at home
now.

I use Koss PORTA PRO'S (not the sporta pro) now which are
excellent for it's price. It's the old-school portable
headphones with the metal band over the head. Really
wicked, and the sound is amazingly reproduced. Not as good
as my Grados (duh!) but still... for 50 US bucks it's really
good.

People just don't imagine the difference good headphones
make.

I don't wear my huge Behringers in public for a couple
reasons: I don't want to end up breaking them, and when I
wear them I usually pull my hair back or put it in a
ponytail, which I hate doing in public because it looks
stupid. So I just wear shitty small headphones in public.

I hate earbuds with a passion, so those aren't an option. I
don't take my sony MDRs out in public cause they're
ridiculously large and I can't hear a damn thing in the
outside world when I have them on.

ditto, small ones can make your ears hurt, and besides if
they only knew what you were listening to they'd realize
you're a much more intelligent dancer than they are

I wear my big ones when I want to treat myself to higher
quality, specifically the bass. Usually I just wear my
little ones because I can put them in my pocket when I'm in
class or whatever.

and I fucking hate the flat line in my hair that I get if I
wear my big headphones too soon after having a shower. It
looks retarded.

i've only started wearing big ones in public recently and i
get vicious looks from people in the street. it makes me
very paranoid too, walking around listening to them at night
in a city where unprovoked attacks are the norm, it means
i'm almost asking for trouble :/

Wearing closed back headphones in public is lethal. You're
practically asking to be run over... A friend of mine has a
lot of scars on one leg from when he got hit by a car
because he didn't hear it (due to closed back 'phones). I've
worn open back overhead 'phones in public though and no, I
don't care about looking stupid.

i have a nice big pair of koss pro3aa titaniums, and they
are real big but have pretty good sound. i dont wear em in
public too often tho because first of all i dont use my cd
player in public much anyways, and my cd player doesnt power
em enough, so i just use the trendy wrap-around ones that
came with the cd player, which actually have relatively good
sound quality for what they are

I've got a pair of Stanton headphones that was very
reasonable in price and sounds great! They are really
comfortable for about an hour but after that they start to
put an uncomfortable pressure on my ears, but still I like
them.

oh yeah, but I haven't used them in public yet, except for
in my music tech class.. but 'm not embarassed about it or
anything, I'd wear them in public all the time if I had a
1/4" to 1/8" adapter that didn't make it stick straight out
for 4 inches from my tiny mp3 player.

In Ukraine, if wearin noticeable headphones, you agree with
tha fact that they can be torn off your head by some
gopnicks. So, you must be always ready to defend your
property. But small earplugs really suck - they don't fit
inside, and I have to press and hold them to get the sound.
It is a good thing to put a sticker over a brand, I think.
Like 'Gantz' on the left and 'Graf' on the right, or vice
versa.
