Suicide Club (Suicide Circle) movie

imdb.com

i just got this dvd on a friend's recommendation. it's a
really bizarre film. it's tough to categorize it because
it's a detective mystery, horror, comedy and a musical all
in one. i thought it was going in one direction for a long
time and then there's a particular scene where it becomes
sort of like rocky horror picture show on pcp and the whole
film changes. (i don't want to give too much of the film
away).

i heard that it was as violent as Battle Royale, but a lot
of the violence is off-screen. it's not as disturbing as
BR, either. it has a more of a b-movie horror vibe to it, i
think.

in the notorious opening sequence, fifty-four school girls
simultaneously jump in the way of an oncoming train. then
there's a string of other unexplained suicides and this
detective is trying to figure out why. but it's not that
simple a movie. it's a collage of different styles and
movies all streamlined into one.

anyway, i like it a lot. i'm glad i watched it to the end,
or i wouldn't have understood it at all.

Mixes of genres? Sounds like something Bollywood often does
to me... foreign cinema has fascinating perspectives. I have
not seen it but heard OF it on a webpage just the other day
while looking up Battle Royale II, interestingly enough!

I love the way those 54 girls held hands and were all giggly
and then counted to 3.

how about the scenes in the baby chicks room? that was
extremely surreal and creepy.

That was insane!!! Little chickies chirping about!

That group that claimed they were the suicide club reminded
me of clockwork orange. I couldnt help but think that during
the whole scene where that chick was getting raped under
that sheet and that guy was singing and playing guitar

but you're right - that scene was very intense. on the one
hand humorous and on the other brutal and upsetting. much
of the film had this sort of contrast in emotions, but that
was the climax of the effect i think.

and obviously i meant that i found the initial shock of the
guy singing was humorous and the rape was incredibly
upsetting.

Man the ending really wasnt to be expected either. I wasnt
sure what to think. I want to go to that website with the
dots and see if it is there.

I find this film groundbreaking. I dont know why but it
really hit me as a truly great film with an original plot.

I really like how on the subway everyone looks depressed or
detached.

yeah, the movie didn't make sense to me until the end! what
a great surprise and a great ending.

i tried to find the site after i saw the movie, but of
course it wasn't there.

Yeah he was singing and i was like "what the fuck" and the
rape itself had me uneasy. The combo of the two was truly
bizarre. Interestingly shot.

oh indeed it was ended so perfectly (IMO)

it was interesting when she appears on stage and all those
children are there. Totally bizarre but quite genious.

I really liked the film. Not alot of movies hit me that way.

just saw this.
not sure what i think of it, i enjoyed it but it left me
quite puzzled. i think it should have explained a little
bit more, but i guess the intention was to be enigmatic.
ya but it was, hmm... good!

I have it. I liked some of the imagery, up untill the point
the 'suicide club' rock band started playing, and then it
fell apart. Loved the first half, hated the last.

The musical montage with all the different people killing
themselves was kinda fun.
