Question for Webmasters

I just clicked on a topic to open it but instead of my
browser opening the topic I was asked to download a file
called topic.php3.

This has never happened before. Any idea why it happened
now?

Netscape 7.0, I have had a few small problems browsing this
site with it, but this is the first time I have been asked
to download a file.

yeah, ive been using netscape7.0 for a while now too. and
this site seems to render a little wiered.

when i first hit the board im comfronted with 3 big (empty)
coloumns, then all of a sudden they fill with the data.

im sure its a netscape thing and not the site so much. i
dunno, do you have it wait till data is loaded untill you
post it to the stream?

it all looked fine in ie, but ie shat itself. i know in asp,
you can hold all your data untill the recordset is complete.
just wondering if your using that kind of buffering?

So I did! By thae way THAXFA your cd's are on the way, I
can only send you the VCD and the DATA files because my DVD
player is still not working. If you want I can keep the
video and send you a DVD later.

ps: that might have came out a little condescending, didnt
mean to be at all. im only new to the whole scripting
thing.

just interested?

netscape is an old browser by a company that doesn't make
browsers anymore. get a new browser.

@ jazembo
as been discussed per mail, no prob !
Just send me the VCD...if all works good....i probably don't
need a DVD....we'll see and stay in contact.....thanks

offline Jazembo from The Earth ball on 2004-03-04 05:13 [#01098236]
Points: 2788 Status: Regular

OK, the only bad thing about the VCD is that it was too
small to seperate all the parts, so it is just the one big
reportage file plus Wunder. But if you just want to watch
parts of it them I have also send a DATA cd with the files.

Drunken Mastah: yeh I know but i like the tabs on it, is
there another browser that does tabs?

mozilla(netscape) and opera dont render anything anywhere
near the w3c standards as well as ie does.

but of course you people dont read the standards.

hep: haha (stupid nerdy joke!)!

Jaz: Opera has a nice feature with the mouse-movements (if
you've played Black & White, you'll figure it out), but
mozilla can also have this (you'll have to download
something first, I think).

I use Opera, but it doesn't matter which one you use.. they
are both equally good, I think.

actually epohs. i havent read those damn standards myself.
you ever tried to read anything the w3c brings out? you need
a degree.

and well, yeah the more i think about it. netscape and the
like are actually the only ones bringing about any change.

it just allways seems anything i make always renders better
in ie. + the fact that they have like 70% of the market
seems (from a designers point of view) thay should be the
target audience.

all the web needs is a strict language, which is what xhtml
is trying to be. once it is strict, authors will have to
comply, and browsers can sell there features.

at the moment html is so sloppy. and browsers have
fixes(guesses) for every problem. this blouts the browsers
and makes for sloppy browsers.

hmm.. i know XHTML.. have to use it for work...

not so hard understanding that shit on the w3c.. i learned
it in two hours.

Points: 17620 Status: Lurker | Followup to hepburnenthorpe: #01098394

yeah. the reason people's pages look better in IE is
because most developers are used to coding thier sites only
for IE. it's huge marketshare allows the microsoft team to
make up their own rules.

but, if you go by what the w3c has to say, IE is
pretty horrible.

visit this page in both IE, and anything else. almost every
other modern browser out there is more compliant.

there. and yeah, i guess i have been developing for ie.

its funny how learning a MS technology like asp can make
your mind close to better things.

here is a link to my latest project.

audiblefaction

it was going to be a site for (independant) elctronic music
reviews, but no one seemed that interested.
