Yes, any compnay employing 15 or more people has to demonstrate a level of ethnic diversity. It's quite bad as in some areas (particularly in the vallies near where I go to university) there really aren't enough people of non-caucasian ethnicity to fulfill this. It's good to see it does work both ways though, there's a large chinese takeaway where the staff are all Chinese (it's mainly a family run thing), but they have a token white Welsh guy. It's quite mad, they all talk in Chinese except when dealing with customers or him, so this guy is always really talkative with customers :) |

Almost all my friends of different ethnicities don't give a damn about race. When I flew with a mate from Iraq (who does look like your stereotypical swarthy terrorist) I wound him up about us being stopped and searched for bombs, just like he calls me a "Sheep Shagger". There's no nastyness to it and racism like that is just like calling your friend a "stupid twat" or whatever- they can tell if you mean it. |
