It was a surprise to me to find this site still "up and
running".

http://home.swipnet.se/~w-86078/aphextwin/main.htm

Anyone remember this?
I don't.

Is your name on the old community list?

http://home.swipnet.se/~w-86078/aphextwin/community_list....

Let's discuss this.
Don't forget to answer the two questions above!

I guess this have been posted before here.
But there are still two questions in the mainpost, so answer
them.

Look at all the awards! And these were won in 1999.

http://home.swipnet.se/~w-86078/aphextwin/awards.htm

But yeah, for 1999 (from what I can remember) that site has
got a very nice layout, just like this site does.

typo [in my last post] / correction : I'm not sure they were
won in 1999, but they were won before the year 2000.

Check out this review of an Aphex Twin liveshow in Las Vegas
(written by 'Kim'):

"at this point i had never seen the cool dancing bears with
rdj's face on them, so i didn't know what to think... the
three bears came out, and let me tell you, they scared the
hell out of me. i certainly didn't expect this. they were
dancing around to the music and simulating sex and other
silly things. then, a girl dancer came out and she was also
simulating sex with the bears, which i found quite amusing.
as the girl continues dancing she starts to lift up her
skirt and shirt and to my surprise, she wasn't wearing
underwear! so she continued to dance bare naked with the
bears and eventually a security guard comes out and pulls
her off stage, being that it was an all ages show
. he
gave them a ticket or sitation or something and the guy with
the pink bear suit came out in only his pants again and
ripped the ticket up, put it in his mouth and spit in out
all over the stage."

wow! Are all aphex-gigs this good? that seems like a great
show!

heh I'm having fun reading through stuff at this old site
(when what I ought to do is either go to bed or finnish my
essay)...

It's funny how things sound different today than before,
e.g. when RDJ saids (in this '99 interview) that his last
"proper" single will be "Windowlicker", and how he hasn't
released anything like it since.

fun to read this old interview with rdj and richie hawtin

"RJ: Yeah, I'm in the studio messing about. I'm gonna
release two more albums and that will be that.
Sweater: What do you mean?
RJ: No more releases.
Sweater: You're retiring?
RJ: [Laughing] Hardly. I'm just over the whole music
business aspect of it. I've made more than enough money. I
really enjoyed all of it; meeting so many industry pricks
and winding them up has been immensely entertaining, but its
gotten old.
RH: Tell me about it. After five years in the business, you
figure out who's cool and who's not and you meet everyone
you want to meet.
RJ: It affects the music, too. When I think in terms of
singles and albums, I work differently. Like "Come To
Daddy." That was something I put together really quickly
without even thinking about it. Music like that is such a
cop-out. It's too easy. There's no challenge there. That was
just me being aggro."

another quote

"RH: I heard that you live in an old bank these days. What's
that like?
RJ: It's great. A really solid structure, as you can
imagine. It's in a great area, mainly because everyone else
seems to think that it's shit.
RH: Why's that?
RJ: It's not trendy at all, and it's quite grey and
industrial. But I like it that way. No one bothers me, and I
get left alone. It's a challenge every time I go outside.
This guy tried to kill me a few weeks ago for looking at
him.
RH: What?
RJ: I was eating dinner at this restaurant and I was sitting
by the window. This guy walks up to the window and just
stares at me. I was already in a pissy mood, so I just
stared right back at him. The longer I stared back, the
madder he got until he just started pounding on the glass.
Then he shattered the window.
RH: So what happened next?
RJ: Security had to come and haul the guy off. I could've
averted the whole thing by just looking away, but it was
just like fuck him, you know?"

PRINCO! I hope you're reading this...

I'm not sure this is the track you were talking about the
other day (with the "Fuck you and Fuck your
brother"-sample), but the track "Who the Fuck are you" by
Bass Inc. contains that sample (aswell as other samples).
It's included on the compilation tolstoyed made a link to.
I actually bought Napalm Rave 4 - years ago. From what I
remember it was really bad
(it's the only CD I've ever thrown away).

But this compilation is quite good (have just begun
listening to it).

A bump for princo (--> read my previous post in this
thread)

Anyway. Was this server the 1st server to store xlt?
When did XLT get it's own server?
What server (in order) is the new server going to be?

xltronic was located on the same shared server as
aphextwin.nu for a while -- but only for a few days. about a
year ago we got our own server.... and now we're getting a
much faster one.
